College Football Picks Week 4: 3 Ranked Teams on Upset Alert
There are several Week 4 college football matchups between ranked teams, and in each of them the underdog has a chance to come out victorious.
No. 14 Arkansas takes on Alabama in an epic SEC battle, No. 11 Florida State takes on No. 21 Clemson in an ACC clash, and No. 7 Oklahoma State plays No. 8 Texas A&M in a great Big 12 matchup.
Multiple ranked teams will go down this week, but will any of the underdogs win? Let's take a look at three who will pull off the upset.
1) No. 14 Arkansas over No. 3 Alabama
Arkansas led Alabama 20-7 in the second half last season at home, but were unable to contain the Crimson Tide running game and lost 24-20.
The Razorbacks offense, led by quarterback Tyler Wilson, will be better this year against a weaker Alabama team, and will pull of the upset in this clash of SEC titans.
If Alabama struggles in the running game, they will have a tough time beating Arkansas on Saturday.
2) No. 21 Clemson over No. 11 Florida State
Clemson is trying to start 4-0 for the first time since 2007 and are playing Florida State at the perfect time.
The Seminoles could possibly be without quarterback EJ Manuel this week due to a shoulder injury, and even if he does play he won't be at full strength.
Clemson knows that Florida State is desperate for a win after losing to top-ranked Oklahoma last week, and, if they are playing to win the ACC, the Tigers must beat the Seminoles.
3) Arizona State over No. 23 USC
Aside from recent Pac-12 expansion rumors, the conference headlines are dominated by Stanford and Oregon, who are the two best teams in the conference, but there are several other quality teams out West, namely Arizona State and USC.
After a good Week 2 win against Missouri, the Sun Devils lost to Illinois and fell out of the AP Top 25.
They will upset USC this week and inch closer to the top 25 again. Arizona State knows that USC is a quality opponent, and a win against them would help to win the Pac-12 South division.
"To us, that's what it's all about is trying to win the South, trying to get into that playoff game and trying to go to the Rose Bowl," ASU coach Dennis Erickson told CBS Sports. "It just happens to be USC the first game and they're a really good football team."
The Arizona State offense can put up points in bunches, and could win in a shootout in Los Angeles.
