Ranking the Top 25 Schools That Appeal to Recruits Based on Uniform Combinations

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

As much as it shouldn't come to play in their recruitment, sometimes recruits are appealed to schools by their uniforms, among other factors. In today's college football, uniforms are really starting to push the envelope.

Fashion is becoming almost as big as football these days, and the uniform a team wears is a central aspect of it. For this read, I'm going to give you the top 25 schools that have the coolest uniform combinations to appeal to prep prospects.

Here we go.

25. Stanford

1 of 25

Really, this appeals to the all-black uniforms Stanford will wear at times. I just think they're pretty cool and different from the normal cardinal and white combination seen normally on The Farm.

24. TCU

2 of 25

The Horned Frogs can switch it up at anytime, with purple, black and white being their main colors. I've even seen them spark out greyish looking helmets. They easily make this list.

23. Cincinnati

3 of 25

The Bearcats have gotten bolder and bolder over the years with their fashion. Today, they can go with any combination of jersey and pants with an all red, all black or all white. They'll mix it up on any Saturday.

22. Missouri

The Tigers are another program that have a good color scheme. They can go with gold pants, black pants or white, and the same goes with their jerseys. Then they top it all off with a cool black helmet.

21. South Carolina

5 of 25

I like the Gamecocks uniforms. They have a cool and diverse look to them, which is a huge upgrade over the boring look they had a few years ago.

I'm sure this helped land recruits like Marcus Lattimore, Alshon Jeffrey and Jadeveon Clowney.

20. North Carolina

6 of 25

With North Carolina, I mean, how can you deny the "Carolina" Blue? The color is just awesome. The white just brings it out more.

But what the football team has done to take it to another level is add dark blue to their color scheme. It just really makes the uni's look that much better.

19. Oklahoma State

7 of 25

The Pokes do a great job of bringing out the orange in their scheme. But what really gets me is the all-black uniforms they've worn a few times. I love the orange jersey, and they can really make up some cool combinations.

18. Ohio State

8 of 25

This is not for the normal Buckeye uniforms, I mean, those are ok, but this for the old school look they went with against Michigan. Those have to catch some recruit's eyes.

17. Texas

9 of 25

As much as I dig the burnt orange jerseys that are worn every Saturday in Austin, I've heard that it's the all-white that really looks cool to observers.

16. West Virginia

10 of 25

I'm not sure what I like more, the gold jerseys or the all-dark-blue uniforms for the Mountaineers. Decisions, decisions. Anyways, WVU makes this list because they can go with a lot of various combos in their looks.

15. Arizona

11 of 25

I like Arizona's all red uniforms, and I'm sure recruits do too. Then they can also go with all-blue or all-white and mix up the jersey and pants too. Plus, they can go with the all-white helmets or even back to the all-blues as well.

14. Maryland

12 of 25

Maryland makes this list...I guess. Geez, how bad were those looks against Miami? I mean, just look at them...but you have to think that a couple prospects considering the Terps liked them.

13. Washington

13 of 25

Washington has added black to their uniforms in the recent years, and the Huskies do a good job switching up their looks. From black pants to gold, white jerseys to purple, U-Dub is never out of style.

I also have to mention how cool the trim on the shoulders is on their jerseys, really neat.

12. Florida

14 of 25

You get the orange helmet, with a chance to wear orange, blue and white either as a jersey or pants? Recruits have to love that. They have to. Florida's got some neat uniforms.

But I have to say, the all-blue look is my favorite.

11. California

15 of 25

Cal has changed their uni's a bit over the recent years, but they could take home the award for coolest pants with the bear slashes.

The dark blue helmets with the dark chinstraps are cool, and they can also go with a yellow jersey if they wish.

10. Florida State

16 of 25

I like the 'Noles uni's, don't me wrong, but they make this list solely on the garnet-on-garnet look they'll wear every so often. It's just something about those that gets the juices flowing, and recruits dig it.

9. LSU

17 of 25

This is another special case. The Tigers don't wear their purple jerseys enough to me. They're just neat and look pretty cool. Wear them more LSU!

8. Michigan's Old School Jerseys

18 of 25

Special case again. Not sure if Big Blue will dust these off again anytime soon, but when I flipped on the TV, I was blown away. I'm sure they caught a lot of recruit's eyes vs. Notre Dame.

Even the current Wolverine players lobbied to be allowed to keep them.

7. Boise State

19 of 25

I know the Broncos are not a recruiting juggernaut, but their uniforms are pretty cool. The hue of the blue is just right, I like the orange and the way they mix-and-match is cool.

But the design of the uniforms is also good, and the color on the shoulder is pretty neat.

6. Miami

20 of 25

Miami's uniforms are among the coolest, and Miami area prep football players dream of wearing the white helmet with a U on the sides.

The canes have a ton of different combinations with orange, green and white being the main colors. They can mix each jersey with a different pant or go with a straight look if they want.

5. Clemson

21 of 25

Clemson's uniforms are just awesome. Period. I really dig when they wear the purple pants. But I'm sure recruits really dig the various combinations they wear each game—it has to appeal to them in some sort of way.

4. Arizona State

22 of 25

The Sun Devils have changed up their jerseys and people seem to be feeling them...check out the all-black ones...

3. Notre Dame's Green Jerseys

23 of 25

The Irish will deploy the lucky green jerseys on special occasions, and it has served as a rallying cry and motivational tool for their program. Players get jacked up and say it's an honor to wear them, and recruits want to get their hands on them too.

2. Oregon

24 of 25

What else can you say about Oregon's uniforms? They change every week and it's like they think it's a fashion faux pau to be caught wearing the same uniform twice in a season.

Wow.

1. Oregon Again

25 of 25

Seriously, there should be an 80's style montage made on the Oregon uniforms over the years...
