Vanderbilt vs. South Carolina: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio and Game Time

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

Week 4 of the 2011 college football season brings us some incredible matchups in the SEC, none more polarizing and potentially entertaining than the meeting of undefeated Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

The Gamecocks are in the midst of a season where there have very high expectations placed on them. They haven't failed yet, but they haven't necessarily been incredibly impressive, either.

South Carolina has a great coach and an explosive offense that allows them to be in any game, and they are going to need everything they have against Vanderbilt.

The Commodores are coming off their most impressive win of the young season when they took out Ole Miss 30-7. They undoubtedly feel that they can hang with a team as impressive as the Gamecocks, and truthfully, it wouldn't be all that surprising if they won.

The momentum is firmly on Vanderbilt's side heading into this game, so it will be interesting to see how each team can handle the respective pressure that has been placed upon them heading in to the matchup.

Where: Williams-Brice Stadium (Columbia, S.C.)

When: Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. EDT

Watch: ESPN2, ESPN3

Listen: 97.1 FM, XM Radio Channel 199, Sirius Channel 22 Tennessee; WNKT-FM South Carolina

Stream: VUcommodores.com, GameCocksOnline.com, ESPN3.com

Betting Line (Bodog.com): South Carolina -16

Key Storyline: The Gamecocks are heavily favored at home, but Vanderbilt is coming into the game feeling confident and riding a hot streak.

Momentum is going to be the key to this game. If South Carolina can get ahead quickly then lean on their running attack to control the game, then I think they will have no problem.

Who Might Not Play For Vanderbilt: TE Brandon Barden (leg) is still questionable. He didn't play last week after hurting himself in the first game of the season.

RB Warren Norman is doubtful with a knee injury.

Who Might Not Play For South Carolina: WR D.L. Moore is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

Corner Akeem Auguste is questionable with a foot injury.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications: The Gamecocks are currently ranked No. 12, so an impressive win would look really nice and perhaps push them up a spot or two. Losing to Vanderbilt would be absolutely devastating to their BCS hopes as well as their standing in the SEC.

What They're Saying: The writers at AthlonSports.com discuss Vanderbilt's hot start and their potential bid for a bowl game in 2011. Vanderbilt isn't often known for being a great football team, so everyone associated with the program is excited about what new coach James Franklin is doing.

The Inside Slant on FoxSportsCarolinas.com writes about the tough schedule the Gamecocks have faced so far and how it will not get any easier against this surging Vanderbilt team. The Gamecocks have pulled out close wins at the end in the first two weeks, and they will be leaning on RB Marcus Lattimore to help them pull this game off.

Vanderbilt Player to Watch: QB Larry Smith is going to be key to the Commodores' success if they plan on having any in South Carolina. The crowd is going to be crazy, and he needs to focus on running the offense and staying away from turnovers.

It will be fascinating to see how Smith handles the first road test of the season.

South Carolina Player to Watch: How could you not want to watch Lattimore run?

He's trying to run himself to the Heisman Trophy, and he's started off great. So far he's racked up 534 yards and seven touchdowns. Lattimore is averaging 178 yards per game, which is incredible.

Expect him to have another monster game against the Commodores' defense.

Key Matchup: The key matchup in this game is slightly unorthodox. I think the key will be seeing how Vanderbilt handles coming into South Carolina 3-0 with some lofty goals and expectations.

The matchup that I'm most interested in seeing is Vanderbilt against the South Carolina crowd.

On the Hot Seat: Vanderbilt coach James Franklin is going to be on the hot seat during this game. It's not that he will be under fire if they lose, but it's that his team has a ton of expectation heading into this game.

If they go into South Carolina and get blown out, everything Franklin has instilled into this team in the past few weeks will be in jeopardy. He needs to get his guys to focus and play above and beyond their capabilities for them to have a chance.

Prediction: I like Vanderbilt's fast start, and the program is on the rise.

That being said, the Gamecocks aren't dropping this game at home. They have been underwhelming the past two games, but have shown they are immensely talented.

I expect everything to come together against Vanderbilt in a big win.

South Carolina 38, Vanderbilt 13
