LSU vs. West Virginia: TV Schedule, Radio, Game Time and More
The LSU Tigers continue their quest for the National Championship on the road in a non conference showdown against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Both teams come into the game with perfect 3-0 records.
The two teams met in 2010. There, LSU was victorious 20-14.
Where: Mountaineer Field, Morgantown, West Virginia
When: Saturday, September 24. 8 p.m. EST.
Watch: ABC
Radio: WNXX 104.5 FM in Baton Rouge. WAJR 1440 AM in Morgantown.
Spread
LSU (-6.5). The way that the Tigers have been playing this year, a touchdown shouldn't be a huge issue. The Mountaineers' offense will test the LSU defense, but the Tigers have played championship level defense so far this season.
Offensively, I don't think the Tigers will explode, but winning by seven points isn't a blowout by any means. Take the favorites here.
Over/Under
Betonline lists the over/under at 49.5. If you really believe in a blowout, take the under. LSU will need some help if this game is going to hit 50 points or more.
I'll take the over here. Not by a lot, but West Virginia's offense should be good enough to pick up whatever slack LSU needs.
Key Injuries
LSU T Chris Faulk (knee), P Brad Wing (leg) and WR Russell Shepard (suspension), are all questionable.
LSU G Josh Dworaczyk is out indefinitely with a knee injury.
LSU QB Jordan Jefferson and LB Josh Johns are both suspended.
West Virginia OL Josh Jenkins (knee) is out for the season
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
LSU is ranked No. 2 in the AP and No. 3 in the USA Today Poll. Their status as one of the top teams in the country is not in doubt.
Still, a loss would not help their very real National Championship hopes.
West Virginia is No. 16 in both polls. A loss here wouldn't drop them out of the rankings. Winning would give them a strong victory over a good opponent.
While it wouldn't show in the rankings, they would become a National Championship dark horse if they beat LSU.
Keys to an LSU Victory
If LSU controls the game and doesn't turn the ball over, they will win this game. Jarrett Lee doesn't need to be great at quarterback, but he does need to lead his team.
Keys to a West Virginia Victory
Quarterback Geno Smith needs to have a strong game. This won't be a shootout, but the Mountaineers' offense must take advantage of every opportunity that they are given.
Prediction
LSU's defense has shut down some of the most explosive offenses in the country this year. Oregon and Mississippi State struggled to do anything significant against them.
West Virginia will have a hard time doing enough against the Tigers to win this one.
