Real Madrid vs. Ajax: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Richard LangfordJun 6, 2018

Real Madrid and Ajax will take to the pitch in Group D Champions League battle. Madrid beat Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 in their last Champions League match, while Ajax battled to a 0-0 draw against Lyon in their last Champions League affair.

These two squads met twice in 2010 Champions League play. Madrid won the first of those matches in September 2-0, and doubled that margin for a 4-0 victory in November.

In all likelihood this match will be more of the same.

Focus your eyes on Ronaldo for a whole match, and you aren't likely to walk away disappointed.

Player To Watch for Ajax: Kolbeinn Sigthorsson

Sigthorsson is a talented 21-year-old striker. He was signed by Ajax this past July and wasted no time making an impression. He scored in the preseason and has been scoring ever since. He already has five goals this year for Ajax.

Key Matchup: Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Kenneth Vermeer

Vermeer is going to be a busy man in this match. He is going to be charged with stopping enough shots to keep this match close.

What They're Saying

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho may have went to far with his public criticism of Khedira following Madrid's recent loss.

Here is a report from goal.com:

"

"But the decision to point the finger at one of his own players has resulted in a sharp reaction from the first teamers, according to El Pais.

"Sources within the squad told the newspaper that: 'Khedira had obeyed orders' from Mourinho.

"News sources in Catalunya suggest a mass player revolt is in sight as a result of Mourinho's latest outburst, with the players showing the first signs of ire at the coach's media tactics.

"However, Sport has also pointed out that the 'Special One' could seek protection from 'Team Mendes,' the group of players represented by the coach's agent Jorge Mendes. Those include the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Ricardo Carvalho."

"

Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3, Ajax 1
