South Carolina Football Uniforms: Wounded Warrior Unis Look Incredibly Sleek
Under Armour finally got it right.
After all of the flak they caught for their Maryland football uniforms, the clothing designers more than made up for it with their latest creation.
The South Carolina Gamecocks will be sporting the “wounded warrior” look when they play the Auburn Tigers on October 1st.
The mostly black jersey with the colorful number looks cool, but it’s the back of the jersey that looks really awesome. The shoulders have the sleek gray pattern that looks reminiscent to an old Jordan brand shoe.
The back of their white pants has the same unique pattern, as do the shoes. Top it off with a big white stripe on their socks and you have one awesome uniform.
Here is the press release on the new duds:
"Under Armour has developed special uniforms for South Carolina, Texas Tech and South Florida to support the company's Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that provides programs and services for injured service members and their families.
This year's uniforms commemorate the 10-year anniversary of September 11 and have a stars and stripes design. As in past years, last names will be replaced with one of the following words: Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Country, or Service.
The jerseys will be auctioned off on each school's website on the Monday following each game. All the proceeds will go to Under Armour's "Believe in Heroes" campaign.
"
I’m not so sure I think of 9-11 when looking at the uniforms, but I do like their intentions.
It ends up being a win-win for everyone involved.
South Carolina gets a chance to wear one of the coolest uniforms in the game against a heated rival, Under Armour gets the nation’s respect back after the Maryland fiasco, and a ton of money will be going to charity.
With the way uniforms are seemingly a weekly topic of conversation, expect the Gamecocks to get a ton of love in the coming weeks from the fashion police.
