Florida State vs. Clemson: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time & More

Matt FaulconerSep 21, 2011

The Clemson Tigers shocked the world with an upset victory over Auburn last week, and now will look to do the same thing this week against the Florida State Seminoles.

Florida State looked to knock off No. 1 Oklahoma last week, but they failed, and thus find themselves looking to get a bounce back win against Clemson.

Clemson's victory over Auburn propelled them into the Top 25, but they will need another victory this weekend if they want to maintain their Top 25 status.

Betting Line: Clemson -2

Without a doubt the toughest line of the week.

E.J. Manuel is questionable for the game, and if he plays, you should bet Florida State comfortably in this one, but if he is out, this game could go either way.

Clint Trickett is the backup for Florida State, and he showed flashes of brilliance last week, but he is inexperienced.

Either way, Florida State is the more talented team, so you should side with the Seminoles when you place your bet this weekend.

Florida State Injury Report:

E.J. Manuel is still questionable heading into this weekend's matchup with the Tigers, and is the biggest name on the injury report.

However, the Seminoles have plenty of other injuries including WR Bert Reed, CB Greg Reid, OL Henry Orelus, WR Kenny Shaw, WR Willie Haulstead, WR Jarred Haggins, and LB Holmes Onwukaife.

All of those players are expected to be out this week, but there is a slim chance Reed and Reid could be ready to go.

The Seminoles will be extremely thin at the receiver position if Reed doesn't go, which would be great news for the Tigers.

Clemson Injury Report:

OL Mason Cloy, TE Darrell Smith, and FB Andre Ellington are all dealing with minor injuries, but all of them should be ready to go come kickoff on Saturday.

On the other side of things, WR Jason Brown and OT David Smith are considered questionable for this week's game.

Either way you look at it, the injury report looks much better from Clemson's side of things.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications:

Florida State was considered a potential BCS Champion before the season, but their loss to Oklahoma could take them out of the running.

It is going to be difficult for this team to bounce back into that race, but winning the ACC would get them back into another BCS game.

Clemson has similar aspirations as they aren't exactly considered a BCS Championship game contender, but they are looking to win the ACC and advance to a BCS game.

A loss for Clemson would boot them from the Top 25, while a loss for Florida State would really put a damper on their lofty expectations.

Key Storyline: Will E.J. Manuel Play?

Manuel left last week's game after injuring his shoulder against the Sooners. The Seminoles need him to play this week, or they could be in danger of losing their second straight game.

Manuel is one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC, and his dual-threat ability makes him a home run threat each and every play.

What They're Saying:

ESPN analyst Heather Dinich believes Clemson has the best chance for an upset in the ACC this weekend:

"Clemson has the best chance at an upset in the ACC this weekend. The Seminoles have not won in Death Valley since 2001. The No. 21-ranked Tigers could topple the No. 11-ranked Seminoles if Florida State’s defense fails to stop quarterback Tajh Boyd, who has looked better and better each week. The Seminoles have faith in backup quarterback Clint Trickett if he’s needed, but there’s a reason EJ Manuel is their starter."

ESPN's Heather Dinich also believes that E.J. Manuel's stock is falling, and that he is not living up to expectations this year:

"He's working through a shoulder injury and is questionable for Saturday's game against Clemson, but for all of the hype surrounding Manuel this preseason, it's been a less than spectacular start. He has thrown six touchdowns and four interceptions."

Floria State Player to Watch: WR Rashad Greene

Florida State has no running game, so they are going to depend on the passing game to bail them out.

Outside of Manuel, James Wilder Jr. is leading the team in rushing, and he did that in one quarter. To make matters worse, Wilder will likely be red-shirted as he is a freshman that finds himself way down the depth chart.

Since no one knows who will be lining up at quarterback this week, the attention turns to WR Rashad Greene. He only has six catches on the year, but four of them are touchdowns.

Look for Greene to be the primary target in the red zone.

Clemson Player to Watch: QB Tajh Boyd

If anyone caught Boyd in action against Auburn last week, they know exactly why he is the player to watch this week.

He threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 30 yards on the ground last week against Auburn.

Boyd is one of the most explosive players in the ACC, and the Seminoles better have all hands on deck for this matchup.

Key Matchup:

Florida State's secondary better be ready for this game. As mentioned, Boyd had a field day against Auburn and will be hoping to do the exact same thing this week.

If the Seminoles can slow down Boyd they will have a huge advantage this weekend against the Tigers. If Boyd has another big week, it could be a long day for Florida State fans.

Prediction:

Florida State 27
Clemson 24
