UVa-Wise Video: Watch Improbable Game-Winning Punt Return

Brandon GalvinJun 7, 2018

My jaw will never be the same again.

It literally dropped to the bottom of the floor and stood there for about five minutes. My girlfriend had to help put it back in place and is quite upset that three of my teeth are chipped from the process.

If your eyes don’t pop out of your head or your jaw doesn’t drop to the floor from this play, I don’t know what will.

If you thought DeSean Jackson’s Miracle at the New Meadowlands was sensational in December 2010, you haven’t seen anything yet.

UVa-Wise has given a new meaning to the word excitement.

With the game on the line, they stepped on the field needing a miracle of their own. They were centimeters away from pulling a Joe McKnight and blocking their rivals’ punt to take it back to the house.

Turns out, they didn’t even need it.

Marcus Bratton fielded Emory and Henry’s Todd Frazier’s punt from his own 30-yard line and received big block after big block.

Just when it looks like he’s going to crash into the ground to end the game, he completes the most heroic lateral I have ever witnessed.

Bratton tosses the rock directly into the hands of his teammate Josh Wright who proceeds to take it to the end zone untouched to guarantee the Cavs the Southwest Virginia Bowl.

Simply sensational.

Forget any questionable non-calls on blocks and whatnot. Let’s not spoil the moment here.

This was one of the greatest plays you will ever see on the gridiron. The announcer calls it the greatest game he’s ever witnessed and I for one would actually like to see it in its entirety because the finish was off the charts.

This is exactly what football is all about. The game is never over. This is another prime example of why people, no matter what level of football you’re watching, need to stay tuned in for the entire game.

Never flip the channel and never leave the stadium or arena. Always keep your eyes peeled because the best part of football is that a score can happen on any single play.

Congratulations to all for participating in one of the best plays to ever grace our beloved sport.
