College Football Rankings: Power Ranking All 120 FBS Teams Heading into Week 5

Now that we are through four weeks of college football, teams are starting to position themselves as they enter conference play.

This past week LSU continued to earn big victories, Clemson picked up its second big win of the season and Florida has quietly moved its way up the rankings.

With four weeks of football behind us, here is how all 120 FBS teams stack up.

No. 120: New Mexico

Record: 0-4

Next Game: New Mexico State

Quick Note: Things have not been going well at all for New Mexico, and they will get a lot worse this week when the Lobos drop their game against New Mexico State.

No. 119: Miami of Ohio

Record: 0-3

Next Game: Cincinnati

Quick Note: Miami of Ohio remains among the teams without a win after losing to Bowling Green. It will stay that way with Cincinnati coming to town.

No. 118: Oregon State

Record: 0-3

Next Game: at Arizona State

Quick Note: If you are a Beaver fan, look away. Oregon State may not win a game this season until late November, when it plays Washington State.

No. 117: Middle Tennessee

Record: 0-3

Next Game: Memphis

Quick Note: Middle Tennessee had a win within its reach but came up short against Troy. The Blue Raiders return home this week to take on Memphis and will need another effort like they had this past week.

No. 116: UAB

Record: 0-3

Next Game: at Troy

Quick Note: When heading on the road to play Troy, UAB must put its close game with East Carolina behind it and focus on trying to earn its first win.

No. 115: Western Kentucky

Record: 0-3

Next Game: Arkansas State

Quick Note: After getting a week off, Western Kentucky will go up against Arkansas State with the hopes that both its offense and defense will show signs of life.

No. 114: Florida Atlantic

Record: 0-3

Next Game: UL Lafayette

Quick Note: No surprise that the Owls could not pull out a victory against Auburn. Things get a bit easier this week as they take on UL Lafayette.

No. 113: Akron

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Eastern Michigan

Quick Note: Akron finally earned its first victory of the season over VMI, but look for the Zips to be back in the loss column when they take on Eastern Michigan on the road.

No. 112: San Jose State

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Colorado State

Quick Note: San Jose State won its first game of the season this week, but a road game against Colorado State will bring those good feelings to an end.

No. 111: Kent State

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Ohio

Quick Note: Kent State finally turned in a winning performance this week. While getting one in the win column is nice, the Golden Flashes will need a better performance to beat Ohio.

No. 110: North Texas

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Tulsa

Quick Note: With 0-4 staring it in the face, North Texas rattled off 21 unanswered points and has some great momentum going with it to face Tulsa on the road.

No. 109: UNLV

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Nevada

Quick Note: After putting up an impressive win over Hawaii, UNLV came crashing back to earth and lost to Southern Utah. It will have two weeks to get ready for Nevada and avoid going 1-4.

No. 108: UL Monroe

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Arkansas State

Quick Note: After this week the Warhawks have now dropped two in a row and will have a week off to figure things out and get it turned around for Arkansas State.

No. 107: Tulsa

Record: 1-3

Next Game: North Texas

Quick Note: Like many opponents, Tulsa did not have success on the blue turf. This week the Golden Hurricane hope to earn their second win of the season as they head home to face North Texas.

No. 106: Memphis

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Middle Tennessee

Quick Note: SMU just got done putting a huge beatdown on Memphis, and it will be on the Tigers to respond when they play Middle Tennessee.

No. 105: Troy

Record: 1-2

Next Game: UAB

Quick Note: Troy is yet another team to get a game in the win column this week, beating Middle Tennessee. The Trojans could make it two in a row with a game against UAB this week.

No. 104: New Mexico State

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at New Mexico

Quick Note: After a surprising win over Minnesota, New Mexico State has dropped two straight games but will have no better opportunity to win than against New Mexico.

No. 103: Rice

Record: 1-2

Next Game: at Southern Miss

Quick Note: The start of the year has not been kind to Rice, as it has had to take on Texas, Purdue and Baylor. If the Owls can find a way to win this week, a 2-2 start would be great for the program.

No. 102: Marshall

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Louisville

Quick Note: Marshall hopes to get things back on track this week after two straight losses but will have to do it on the road to avoid making it a three-game losing streak.

No. 101: Louisiana Tech

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Hawaii

Quick Note: Louisiana Tech almost pulled off a huge upset over Mississippi State but fell short in overtime. The Bulldogs must get refocused as the Warriors come to town.

No. 100: Idaho

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Virginia

Quick Note: After back-to-back games against top teams like Texas A&M and Fresno State, the Vandals get a slight break but will still have to go on the road when taking on Virginia.

No. 99: Boston College

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Wake Forest

Quick Note: After an awful start to the season, Boston College finally won, defeating Massachusetts, and is looking to make it two straight with a big conference win.

No. 98: Minnesota

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Michigan

Quick Note: This week Minnesota gets its conference schedule started, and it has to head to the Big House while hoping to avoid starting the season 1-4.

No. 97: Central Michigan

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Northern Illinois

Quick Note: After starting the season with a victory, Central Michigan has dropped three straight, and it will be four straight after this week's game.

No. 96: Utah State

Record: 1-2

Next Game: BYU

Quick Note: After an extremely tough home loss to Colorado State, Utah State must put that behind it, because next up on its schedule is BYU.

No. 95: Army

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Tulane

Quick Note: This year is not going as well as Army fans and players may have hoped. The Black Knights need to get things turned around against Tulane and avoid a 1-4 start.

No. 94: East Carolina

Next Game: North Carolina

Quick Note: This past week East Carolina earned its first win of the season, and it will look to try to catch the Tar Heels off guard this week.

Quick Note: Buffalo must get its offense to wake up if it has any chance to turn this season around, but this week's game against Tennessee may as well already be in the loss column.

No. 92: Eastern Michigan

Next Game: Akron

Quick Note: Eastern Michigan got off to a quick start but has dropped its past two games. This week's game against Akron is a must win for the Eagles.

No. 91: Nevada

Next Game: at Boise State

Quick Note: Things are about to get worse rather than better for the Wolf Pack as they head on the road to take on Boise State.

No. 90: Arkansas State

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Western Kentucky

Quick Note: Loss-win-loss-win. Does the trend continue against Western Kentucky? Not likely.

No. 89: Duke

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at FIU

Quick Note: Don't look now, but the Duke Blue Devils football program has won two straight games. However, it should see that momentum brought to a halt against FIU.

No. 88: Toledo

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Toledo

Quick Note: Toledo is becoming a victim of wrong place, wrong time. After a close loss to Ohio State and then being dropped by Boise State, the Rockets were on the wrong end of a bad call in a loss to Syracuse.

No. 87: Western Michigan

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at Connecticut

Quick Note: If Western Michigan hopes to earn a road victory against Connecticut, it will need to get more consistency from its offensive attack.

No. 86: Northern Illinois

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at Central Michigan

Quick Note: A week after getting beat up by the Badgers, Northern Illinois bounced back and earned a victory over Cal Poly, and it could make it two straight this week against the Chips.

No. 85: Ole Miss

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at Fresno State

Quick Note: Things are just not getting better at Ole Miss, and Houston Nutt is going to feel the heat getting turned up on his job security.

No. 84: UCLA

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at Stanford

Quick Note: This past week, UCLA earned a must-win victory over Oregon State. Things get much tougher now as the Bruins head on the road to take on Stanford.

No. 83: Rutgers

Record: 2-1

Next Game: at Syracuse

Quick Note: After getting a week off, Rutgers heads on the road to take on Syracuse, which escaped its game with Toledo with a questionable victory.

No. 82: Indiana

Record: 1-3

Next Game: Penn State

Quick Note: Indiana is now coming off a loss to North Texas, and the Hoosiers get to start their conference schedule at home against Penn State. A 1-4 record is in their future.

No. 81: Connecticut

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Western Michigan

Quick Note: Connecticut's two-game losing streak came to an end this week, and it should be able to put together a two-game winning streak this week.

No. 80: UTEP

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Houston

Quick Note: Based on the track record of win-loss-win-loss, the Miners should have success against Houston, but look for the trend to be broken.

No. 79: Air Force

Record: 2-1

Next Game: at Navy

Quick Note: After a 1-1 start to the season, Air Force got its offense back on track this past week against Tennessee State and will have one of its bigger games of the year against Navy.

No. 78: Fresno State

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Ole Miss

Quick Note: After a tough start to the season, Fresno State has gotten back to winning, and a game against Ole Miss should allow it to get above .500 for the first time this season.

No. 77: Hawaii

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at Louisiana Tech

Quick Note: Hawaii did a nice job rebounding from a disappointing loss to UNLV this past week and now heads on the road to take on Louisiana Tech.

No. 76: Arizona

Record: 1-3

Next Game: at USC

Quick Note: Arizona looks like a team that is giving up. While they have played against top teams, the Wildcats are just not executing and could drop to 1-4 when they meet the Trojans.

No. 75: BYU

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Utah State

Quick Note: BYU has had some ups and downs early this year but can hopefully build on last week's success when playing against Utah State.

No. 74: Pittsburgh

Record: 2-2

Next Game: South Florida

Quick Note: One week after blowing a game against Iowa, the Panthers lost again to Notre Dame and will need to get focused in a hurry, as South Florida comes to town this week.

No. 73: Colorado State

Record: 3-1

Next Game: San Jose State

Quick Note: This week Colorado State pulled off a big win on the road against Utah State. The Rams now turn their attention to San Jose State and a possible 4-1 start.

No. 72: Colorado

Next Game: Washington State

Quick Note: After finding little success against Ohio State, Colorado must get things turned around for its game against Washington State.

No. 71: Bowling Green

Record: 3-1

Next Game: at West Virginia

Quick Note: After a great start to its season, Bowling Green heads on the road to West Virginia and will suffer its second loss of the year.

No. 70: UCF

Record: 2-2

Next Game: Marshall

Quick Note: UCF started the season off with two straight victories but since then has dropped two straight. The Knights receive a much-needed week off and will have plenty of time to prepare for Marshall.

No. 69: Kansas

Record: 2-1

Next Game: Texas Tech

Quick Note: After receiving a bye week this past weekend, Kansas gets back to play and will take on a Texas Tech team that can put up some serious points.

No. 68: UL Lafayette

Quick Note: UL Lafayette continues to win as it pushes its streak to three straight this past week and hopes to make it four against Florida Atlantic.

No. 67: Ball State

Quick Note: Last time Ball State faced a ranked team it got blown out by South Florida. This week's game will not be fun for the Cardinals.

No. 66: Washington State

Record: 2-1

Next Game: at Colorado

Quick Note: After getting an early bye week, the Cougars look to get back to winning after falling to San Diego State.

No. 65: Kentucky

Record: 2-2

Next Game: at LSU

Quick Note: After a 2-0 start to the season, Kentucky has dropped its last two, and things do not appear to be getting easier as it heads on the road to take on LSU.

No. 64: Miami (FL)

Record: 1-2

Next Game: Bethune-Cookman

Quick Note: It has been an up-and-down season for Miami. After a huge win at home over Ohio State, the Hurricanes followed it up with a loss to Kansas State.

No. 63: Maryland

Record: 1-2

Next Game: Towson

Quick Note: So far the most noteworthy thing to happen for Maryland this season is its performance in the opening week of the season and its uniforms. The Terrapins hope that Towson will bring an end to their two-game losing streak.

No. 62: Tulane

Quick Note: Tulane finds itself back at .500 after getting beat by Duke. The Green Wave now head on the road and hope to get their offense and defense back on track.

No. 61: Wyoming

Quick Note: After a rough game against Nebraska, the Cowboys go on the road and should be able to get back on a winning note against Utah State.

Quick Note: After a loss to Wake Forest, NC State was able to respond with a great effort and earn a victory. After last week's loss to Cincinnati, it will need to do the same.

Quick Note: Virginia got off to a quick start this year, but back-to-back losses to North Carolina and Southern Miss have the Cavaliers slipping down the rankings.

Quick Note: With its week off behind it, Wake Forest needs to head on the road and take advantage of a Boston College team that is currently struggling.

No. 55: Southern Miss

Record: 3-1

Next Game: Rice

Quick Note: Southern Miss has done a nice job on both offense and defense this year and will face a Rice team that is also playing well, but the home-field advantage should help it go 4-1.

No. 54: Northwestern

Quick Note: Northwestern got the past week off and will get back to football with its conference kickoff against Illinois.

No. 53: Ohio

Quick Note: After a loss to Rutgers on the road, Ohio should have no problem rebounding against Kent State and going to 4-1.

No. 52: Cincinnati

Quick Note: Cincinnati looks to continue its great start by earning its third straight victory when playing Miami of Ohio this week.

No. 51: FIU

Record: 3-1

Next Game: Duke

Quick Note: FIU had a great start to its season but has to be kicking itself for its loss to UL Lafayette this past week. A game against Duke should provide it with an opportunity to get back on the winning track.

No. 50: Purdue

Record: 2-1

Next Game: Notre Dame

Quick Note: After getting a week off, Purdue has a chance to get a huge win under its belt as Notre Dame comes to town this week.

No. 49: Cal

Record: 3-1

Next Game: at Oregon

Quick Note: After dropping a Pac-12 North game to Washington, Cal finds itself in a must win early in the season as it heads to Autzen, a place that was not so kind during its last visit.

No. 48: Syracuse

Record: 3-1

Next Game: Rutgers

Quick Note: Escaping its game with Toledo with a win, Syracuse continues to improve its program. A win over Rutgers is something that is a must to continue its momentum.

No. 47: Iowa

Quick Note: With its out-of-conference schedule behind it, Iowa gets an extra week to rest up before heading on the road to take on Penn State.

No. 46: Washington

Next Game: at Utah

Quick Note: Washington did a nice job rebounding from a loss to Nebraska by earning an important conference win against Cal. The Huskies look to continue that momentum on the road against Utah this week.

No. 45: Vanderbilt

Record: 3-1

Next Game: at Alabama

Quick Note: After a loss to South Carolina, Vanderbilt gets a week off and will need to figure out how it plans on slowing down Alabama.

No. 44: San Diego State

Quick Note: After a tough loss at the Big House, San Diego State must now refocus at home for a TCU offense that is rolling.

Quick Note: After a slow start to the year, Notre Dame has found ways to win over the past two weeks and will need another good effort on the road against Purdue.

Quick Note: In its first test of the season, USC was delivered a big loss by Arizona State. This week, the Trojans look to take advantage of a beat-up Wildcat team.

Quick Note: Texas Tech has gotten off to a quick start this year, and after having a bye week last week, it should have no issue taking care of Kansas and continuing to pile up points.

No. 36: Navy

Next Game: Air Force

Quick Note: After coming up just short against South Carolina a couple weeks ago, Navy will look to rebound and earn a big victory over Air Force.

No. 35: Kansas State

Next Game: Baylor

Quick Note: Quietly, the Wildcats have started the season out 3-0 and just earned a huge win against Miami. A win over Baylor would speak volumes about where this team stands.

Quick Note: Tennessee had this past week off and is in search of its third win of the season as it steps out of conference play to take on Buffalo.

Quick Note: After a rough start to the season, the Bulldogs have rebounded with two straight victories and will need to bring the same effort against Mississippi State.

No. 32: Penn State

Record: 3-1

Next Game: at Indiana

Quick Note: After escaping its game against Temple with a victory, Penn State beat up on Eastern Michigan and will head on the road to start its conference schedule.

No. 31: Utah

Record: 2-1

Next Game: Washington

Quick Note: Utah earned a huge victory over BYU a couple weeks ago, and after resting up last week, the Utes get back into conference play against the Huskies.

No. 30: Iowa State

Next Game: Texas

Quick Note: Iowa State has gotten off to a fast start this year and will have a chance to make a real statement with its game against Texas this week.

Quick Note: With a win under his belt as the starter, the Buckeyes will need Braxton Miller to play his best game to date when the Michigan State Spartans come to town.

Quick Note: Auburn is going to find out what it is made of over the next four games, as the Tigers take on South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida and LSU.

No. 27: Houston

Next Game: at UTEP

Quick Note: The return of Case Keenum has been a welcome sight for the Cougars, as they have turned things around and have gotten off to a great start in 2011.

No. 26: Michigan State

Next Game: at Ohio State

Quick Note: Michigan State got back on the winning track this past week, but the Spartans will need their best effort as they head on the road to take on Ohio State.

Next Game: Northwestern

Quick Note: Ron Zook and the Illini are off to a great start, but things against Western Michigan were more interesting than they needed to be. The Fighting Illini must show a better effort this week against Northwestern.

No. 24: Florida State

Quick Note: After losing to Oklahoma at home, the Seminoles headed on the road and dropped their second straight game. They will have two weeks to prepare for Wake Forest and make sure it doesn't become three.

Quick Note: After a loss on the road to Illinois, Arizona State responded well by defeating the Trojans and taking control of the Pac-12 South. This week's game should not be an issue as they face the Beavers, currently the worst team in the Pac-12.

Quick Note: After getting the win over Brady Hoke's old school out of the way, it will be interesting to see how Denard Robinson and the Michigan offense hold up in conference play.

No. 21: West Virginia

Next Game: Bowling Green

Quick Note: After failing to capitalize on a huge home game against LSU, West Virginia must get refocused on winning the Big East and will be able to iron out some issues against Bowling Green.

No. 20: Georgia Tech

Record: 4-0

Next Game: at NC State

Quick Note: Georgia Tech and its triple option attack continues to put up the points, and it is not likely that NC State will change that.

No. 19: TCU

Record: 3-1

Next Game: SMU

Quick Note: One thing that has continued to impress people is how well the offense has transitioned to a new quarterback. The game against SMU should help the Horned Frogs improve to 4-1.

No. 18: Texas

Record: 3-0

Next Game: at Iowa State

Quick Note: After having an extra week to prepare, the Longhorns and their newfound offensive swagger should take care of business against Iowa State.

No. 17: Arkansas

Record: 3-1

Next Game: Texas A&M

Quick Note: After facing Alabama on the road, things do not get much easier for the Razorbacks as they welcome in the Aggies, fresh off a tough loss to Oklahoma State.

No. 16: Baylor

Quick Note: Baylor and its offense continue to roll through the first quarter of the schedule and will look to earn a conference road victory against Kansas State.

No. 15: South Florida

Quick Note: South Florida has continued to win, and after shocking the Irish in the opening week of the season, a Thursday night win at Pitt would be a huge conference victory.

Quick Note: Over the past two weeks, Clemson has posted some impressive wins over Auburn and now Florida State. A win on the road over Virginia Tech would send a huge message to the ACC and the nation.

Quick Note: When Texas A&M and Arkansas meet up next week, both teams will be in desperate need of a win after losing the week before.

Quick Note: This week Alabama will head to the Swamp, and one thing is for sure: One SEC team will earn a huge win, and the other will drop its first game.

Quick Note: Virginia Tech has very quietly gone undefeated this season and faces a huge test at home this week when Clemson comes to town.

Quick Note: After a solid performance from their defense against Vanderbilt, the Gamecocks will need it to step up big-time as they take on Auburn this week.

Quick Note: After earning a huge victory on the road against Arizona, Oregon gets a week off and will prepare for its Thursday night game against Cal, which held the Ducks to their lowest point total last season.
