Tulsa vs. Boise St. Week 4 Preview: 4 Keys to What Should Be Easy W for Broncos

Alex WelchJun 7, 2018

The Boise State Broncos are on yet another quest to prove themselves. Despite everything they have accomplished in the past few seasons, there are still some doubters out there.

The No. 4 ranked team in the nation has already looked solid in two games this season, including a big win against the Georgia Bulldogs at the Georgia Dome.

Boise takes on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Saturday night for its third game of 2011. Tulsa is 1-2 this year, having already played two top-10 teams.

This looks like it should be an easy win for the Broncos. Here are a few reasons why Tulsa will be a pushover for the No. 4 team in the nation.

1. Kellen Moore

1 of 4

Do I really need to add anything here? Kellen Moore has already had two great games this season. The senior quarterback shows no signs of slowing down now.

Moore has been extremely accurate so far, completing 79 percent of his passes. After an impressive win against the Georgia Bulldogs, Moore exploded for five touchdowns against the Toledo Rockets.

Tulsa has played two ranked teams this year, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. They allowed 106 points in those two games. Moore will have another great game this week.

2. Offensive Line

2 of 4

One of the reasons Kellen Moore has been so successful is the great blocking he gets from his offensive line.

Boise State's offensive line has yet to allow a sack this season, but it's nothing new to Moore. In the 2010 season, Moore was only sacked six times all year.

Expect this trend to continue against the Golden Hurricane. Moore will have plenty of time to throw, and he'll make Tulsa pay.

3. History

3 of 4

The last time Boise State faced off against Tulsa was in 2009. The final score was 28-21 with the Broncos coming out on top. Tulsa nearly ended their perfect year.

I doubt Boise has forgotten about this game. If the Broncos want to continue to prove they are one of the best teams in the nation, and potentially have a title shot, they aren't going to let a team like Tulsa hurt their chances.

Also, Boise is 5-0 all-time against the Golden Hurricane. Will that perfect record come to an end Saturday night? Don't count on it.

4. Home Field Advantage

4 of 4

In case you didn't know, the Boise State Broncos are nearly unbeatable at home.

Since 1999, Boise is 77-2 at home—with one of those losses coming in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl. The last time the Broncos lost a regular season home game was in 2001 against Washington State.

How many games is their win streak at now? 62. They have won 62 straight games at Bronco Stadium. Good luck, Tulsa—you're going to need it.
