College Football Recruiting 2012: The Most Overrated Recruits In Scout's Top 100
I would rather talk about underrated recruits than overrated ones. But Bleacher Report has asked I touch on some overrated players within the Scout.com Top 100 list.
Now, the players on this list I am not necessarily saying I don't like or think they won't amount to anything. I just think they are too high for where Scout.com has them inside their Top 100 board.
Check it out.
Jarron Jones, DT
1 of 3I like Jones as a prospect, but I think he's too high as a Top 15 overall player and 5-star recruit, which Scout has him as.
The Notre Dame commit is a future five-technique starter on the DL in South Bend, but I have him lower on my board.
He's 6'5", 290-pounds, and now there is growing talk that Jones could be a better LT prospect than a DT prospect.
Brionte Dunn, RB
2 of 3Scout has Dunn as the 28th best player in the country and fifth best RB prospect on their board.
Dunn's a 6'1", 215-pound big back that runs with good toughness, physicality and straight-line speed.
However, he lacks a good amount of wiggle, elusiveness and long speed to be ranked that highly for me on my board. He's a bell cow back, but I doubt the Ohio State commits' home run hitting ability.
Trey Williams, RB
3 of 3Now, when I watch film of Williams, he shows an electric skill set as a runner and is exciting to watch. The only problem is he's small.
Scout lists him as a 5-star recruit and the 11th player overall and at 5'8", 180-pounds. I've heard from several sources that Williams may be smaller than that. I just don't feel he'll be an every-down back in college and will struggle with his hold up as a blitz protector.
I'm sure he's going to be a great luxury player for Mike Sherman at Texas A&M, and will score lots of TDs, but his smallish size will limit him some for the Aggies.
