College Football Picks Week 4: 3 Traps Bettors Would be Wise to Avoid
College football is one of the most widely bet on sports today and each week there are bets that seem to good to be true, that is because they are.
The average sports bettor almost never makes a profit in the long run and should avoid these trap bets at all costs.
Here are three trap bets in Week 4 of the college football season to avoid.
Alabama Crimson Tide -11.5 vs. Arkansas Razorbacks
1 of 3As the No. 3 team in the nation, the Alabama Crimson Tide -11 against an Arkansas team that hasn't been tested yet looks like a good bet.
But it is one to avoid this week.
Despite being at home, this Crimson Tide offense will not put up a lot of points against the SEC's elite this year as they don't have much of a passing game with A.J. McCarron in his first year at quarterback.
The Razorbacks can score with the best of them with a solid quarterback in Tyler Wilson who should keep this game close.
The annual matchup between these two teams has been decided by more than 11 points just three times in the past nine years so look for this to be a close one in Tuscaloosa.
West Virginia Mountaineers +7 vs. LSU Tigers
2 of 3After a victory over the Maryland Terps on the road, the West Virginia Mountaineers could be a popular upset pick at home against LSU this week.
Don't get sucked into that belief.
Geno Smith looks like his an elite quarterback in college football for the Mountaineers but these two teams are on totally different wave lengths.
The Tigers defense is nothing like the Mountaineers have faced this season. They are much faster than the likes of the Terps and the two other scrub teams they played.
LSU has the most impressive wins of anyone in the country and they should add another one in Morgantown by a touchdown or more. They have proven they can go on the road and beat a good team as they did last week at Mississippi State.
If you want to hop onto the West Virginia band wagon, wait another week, because if you do it this week, you will lose money.
Pittsburgh Panthers +8 vs. the Norte Dame Irish
3 of 3Coming off an impressive showing against the Iowa Hawkeyes in a 31-27 loss, people may be quick to jump on the Panthers getting nearly a touchdown against the 1-2 Irish, don't be one of those people.
Despite their record, Notre Dame is a very good team now with Tommy Rees at the helm.
The fact that it is played at Pittsburgh should not sway you to bet on Pitt. This Irish team could easily be 3-0 and dismantled the No. 15 Michigan State Spartans last week 31-13.
The Irish will only get better as the weeks go on and they may give out another beating Saturday against the Panthers.
The Big East is somewhat of a joke in football and the Irish will show that Saturday by beating Pitt on the road by at least a touchdown.
