Tottenham vs Liverpool: Spurs Show Signs of Life in Dominant Win
Tottenham showed they might be a force in this campaign after all. They put their best performance of the year on the pitch when they beat Liverpool 4-0 on Saturday.
The depth of this blowout was shocking. It looked as if Kenny Daglish had closed the gap between his Liverpool squad and the Spurs.
Tottenham had beaten Liverpool 2-0 when these teams last met in May, but Liverpool had looked stronger than they did last May. They were coming off of a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Stoke City, but had won their previous three matches by a combined score of 8-2. That included an impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Tottenham seemed to be slipping. They had won just one match out of their last four. A stretch that included a disappointing 0-0 draw to Hearts and a 5-1 shellacking to Manchester City.
They can now put those underwhelming performances behind them.
Luka Modric got things started off quickly for the Spurs. He found the goal just seven minutes into the match. And that was all the scoring for the first half.
The second half was all Spurs though. Jermain Defoe added a goal in the 66th minute. This goal took all the wind out of Liverpool's sails. Just two minutes later Emmanuel Adebayor added the third goal. He then tacked on the fourth and final goal in stoppage time.
That completed the blowout, and it also swung the momentum of Tottenham's season.
