College Football Uniform Report Card from Week 3: Who Failed and Who Passed
After the first few weeks of the College Football season there were a number of teams that came out with new uniform color schemes. Let’s just say that those first teams that tried something new failed miserably.
There was the Boise State Storm Trooper uniforms against the Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robot Georgia all red uniforms.
Then the next night we had the Maryland Flag all over the new Maryland uniforms against the classic Miami Hurricanes uniforms.
Last week we had another uniform change, as the Penn State Nittany Lions took the white stripe around their collar off the uniform. Drastic as it was, they didn’t reinvent the wheel so to say with their jersey.
This week there were only three teams that tried out the new jersey uniforms. Let’s step into the class room and grade these uniforms.
Maryland: C-
Well, it was an improvement from their first game, but still has a long way to go. The all black look made it easier on the eyes. But, the all black helmets look like someone took Rick Moranis’ Dark Helmet’s helmet and put it on them this week.
Oregon: B
Another week, another new uniform from the Oregon Ducks. This week it was a dark green top with dark green pants with the wings on the shoulder pads. Not bad, but not great.
Texas Tech: A-
This week Tech came out with an all-white uniform against New Mexico State. The look was easy on the eyes and the end result was a 59-13 victory. It was classy, it was clean, and it didn’t make people want to turn away in horror when they saw them for the first time.
That’s it class is out for the week. Let’s see who comes out next week with a new uniform for us to either go, “Wow that looks good” or “Oh my God get it off my television.”
