2012 NFL Draft: Which Player's Stock Rose the Most in Week 3
As football fans, we simply go from Saturday to Sunday as we watch our favorite teams and players. Some of Saturday's stars will be making the transition from Saturday to Sunday's as well next year.
Here's taking a look at who's stock improved the most during Week 3. We're not looking for the Andrew Lucks here, who is projected as the No. 1 pick. I'm looking for guys whose performance may get them from the second round into the first, or from the middle of the first into the upper part of the draft.
Let's take a look.
Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
1 of 5Tannehill really wasn't tested in Week 3, but a solid 337 yard, 2 touchdown performance against Idaho keeps him very hot and his stock rising.
Tannehill was a guy probably looked at in the second round, but now could likely be a guy selected late in the first round.
LaMichael James, Oregon
2 of 5Similar to Tannehill, James is a guy probably looked at as a second rounder, but if he keeps churning out games like he did in Week 3, he could find himself sneaking into the first round.
James turned out a 204-yard, 3 touchdown performance in Week 3 against not so good competition, but his stock is rising.
His ability to catch the football separates him from most of the other backs in the nation and he could find himself sneaking up the board.
Chris Rainey, Florida
3 of 5Rainey is a bit of a reach, but week in and week out, he's proving his value in between the lines.
While he's very small and will have to add some muscle, he's a flat-out play maker and every team needs play makers.
He can run the ball. He can catch the ball. He can have an impact on special teams. Bottom line is that Rainey's a football player.
In the mold of a Dexter McCluster, who's with the Kansas City Chiefs, if you can make enough plays then teams will find a way to get you on the field.
Rainey could find his way into the second or third round.
Kellen Moore, Boise State
4 of 5Moore may not be viewed as a prototypical first round quarterback, but if he keeps it up then some team is going to take him in the first couple rounds.
He shows everything that should draw the attention of NFL scouts.
His decision making is top notch. His accuracy is near flawless. He has above average arm strength. Most importantly, he's a winner.
His Week 3 performance against Toledo may have made him the favorite for the Heisman Trophy and should have opened up the eyes of NFL scouts.
Matt Barkley, USC
5 of 5Barkley was already highly thought of when it comes to the draft, but if he keeps playing the way he did in Week 3, he could put some doubt among those who already assume Luck will be the first guy off the board.
Luck is the No. 1 ranked quarterback on the board and he should be, but Barkley is now closer to being ranked No. 1 than he is to being ranked No. 2.
