College Football Recruiting 2012: The Most Disappointing Recruiting Classes
There are some recruiting classes that are doing well, and there are some that are doing...hmm...not so well. Having a disappointing recruiting class can set a program back a few years, so this is dangerous water to tread in.
For this read, I'm going to give you a couple of recruiting classes that are disappointing this 2012 cycle. These programs are in danger of crippling their overall depth.
Here we go.
Ole Miss
1 of 3Houston Nutt signed a pretty good class last year. He beat out Mississippi State for about four of the top five players in the state.
This year his class is sub-par, and he's way down in the rankings. Toss in the fact that Ole Miss just lost yesterday to Vanderbilt, and I'm not sure if the Rebels are going to have a good class.
Plus, I'm calling it now, they're going to get waxed in the Egg Bowl in a few months.
Oregon
2 of 3You make it to the Title game, enter the season ranked in the top five, are considered your conference favorite, have cool uniforms, a loud stadium and awesome facilities.
You should be having a great year on the trail, right?
Wrong.
I'm not sure if Chip Kelly and his staff are having an off-year, waiting to rev up the motor until after their bowl game, or maybe the Willie Lyles scandal and investigation is turning recruits off.
Whatever the case is, it's surprising that Oregon has just eight commitments right now. Sure, I like Jake Rodrigues, but this Oregon class is a disappointment overall so far.
Nebraska
3 of 3Nebraska has just six commitments, and they are not on a good track right now.
It's shocking because with the move to the Big Ten, the energy surrounding the Cornhusker program and Nebraska having a solid class last year, you'd imagine they'd be in store for a better output then they've shown right now.
With the move to the Big Ten, a pre-season top-15 ranking and Nebraska being "Nebraska", having just six pledges is disappointing right now.
