Penn State Football: 5 Halftime Notes vs. Temple Owls

Kevin McGuireJun 6, 2018

It's halftime in Lincoln Financial Field with the Nittany Lions trailing 10-7.

Here are five quick halftime observations.

1. Bernard Pierce is an absolute beast. Penn State has struggled when he bounces to the outside, and when they can't stop him at the line, he has been beating defenders to the outside. If Penn State is going to slow him down, that should be the first priority.

2. Rob Bolden has made some nice throws and has been under pressure. As has been the case though, the offense has failed to move the ball with any kind of consistency with Bolden under center.

3. Matt McGloin came in during the second quarter and moved the offense down field for the first score of the day for the Nittany Lions, putting them in to position for a long field goal at the end of the half.

4. Silas Redd has found it hard to find room to work with, but he had a great run for a touchdown to even the game at seven.

5. Pass protection for Penn State is a serious weak spot. Bolden has been under pressure the entire half and has taken a few hits as a result. As has been the case the previous two weeks, this is not a strength for Penn State and is holding the offense back.
