Florida vs. Tennessee: Are These the Two Best Teams in the SEC East?
Today the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators prepare to meet up for a huge game in the SEC East.
While these two teams are not amongst the national elite right now, they have provided us with some outstanding memories through the years, and the hope is that today will be another memorable game.
While both teams currently sit outside the top 10, they are on their way up. It brings up the question: are they the best teams in the SEC East?
Florida came into the season under new leadership with the hiring of head coach Will Muschamp and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis. Through two games, these changes have paid dividends, but more will not be able to be determined until Florida starts working through their conference games.
In Tennessee, the Vols also made a change, but one that started late last year. With the offense struggling, the Vols moved Tyler Bray at quarterback; since then, Tennessee has only lost one game, going 6-1.
When looking at these teams, you realize that both have turned the corner and appear to be heading towards a good season.
But when you are talking about the best team in the SEC East, the answer to that question is the South Carolina Gamecocks.
South Carolina is the defending division champion and clearly has the best offense out of the three teams. With quarterback Stephen Garcia, running back Marcus Lattimore and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery leading this offense, the Gamecocks have already put up 101 points through two games this season.
One thing we do know is it will all be settled on the field, as Tennessee will get their shot at South Carolina at home on October 29, and Florida will go on the road to face the Gamecocks on November 12.
