College Football Predictions Week 3: 3 Teams That Will Soar Up the Polls
Every game in college football is a statement game, especially for ranked teams looking to establish themselves as legitimate BCS title contenders.
This week there are several teams looking to soar up the polls with big wins against quality opponents.
Let’s take a look at three of those teams.
1) Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns are ranked No. 23 in the country heading into their Week 3 matchup against UCLA, and a win against the Bruins would allow the Longhorns to move further up the polls.
With teams ranked ahead of them such as Arizona State and Ohio State facing possible upsets, Texas could be well positioned to move into the top 20 with a win on Saturday.
Texas must not look ahead to their early October showdown with archrival and top ranked Oklahoma, because this game against UCLA is vitally important to their season.
2) Florida Gators
The Florida Gators are ranked No. 16 in America ahead of their clash with SEC foe Tennessee, and a win at the Swamp would start the Gators conference schedule off on the right foot.
Tennessee is an underrated team that is one of the many quality teams in the SEC, and Florida must not take the Volunteers lightly, despite them not being ranked.
A win against the Vols would set the Gators up nicely for next week’s game against Kentucky, which is followed by an October 1 clash with national power Alabama.
3) Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers have started their national title defense with two wins, but they were two very hard fought wins.
The Tigers barely beat Utah State in Week 1, and needed a last second goal-line stand to beat Mississippi State last week.
Auburn has another chance to rise up the polls Saturday against Clemson, and a win would give the Tigers their eighteenth consecutive victory, the longest in the FBS.
If the Tigers can get by Clemson, they’ll have a cupcake opponent in Florida Atlantic next week to pad their win total, before resuming conference play against South Carolina on October 1.
