College Football Picks Week 3: 3 Games That Will Fly Past Over/Under Number

Michael DixonSep 17, 2011

Are you a fan of offense? If you are, then these are games that you would be well advised to watch and watch closely.

The oddsmakers have set the over/under of these games at what appears to be far too low.

So, if you're a bettor, these are games that you can comfortably take the over on and wait for your money to come in.

Oklahoma at Florida State (55)

The weekend's biggest game pits No. 1 against No. 5. Frankly, unless they're between two SEC teams, these games are almost always high scoring. Actually, even some of those SEC games end up as shootouts.

In all honesty, I see this game going one of two ways.

One is an Oklahoma blowout. If that happens, they will come close to 55 on their own. If it's closer, I see a shootout where both teams fly past 30 points.

One way or the other, 55 just doesn't seem to be much of an obstacle.

Sure, we've been surprised before. Did anyone really predict a 22-19 struggle in last season's national championship game between Auburn and Oregon?

Probably not. Still, I don't see that repeating.

These are teams that move the ball extremely well. In games like this, 55 points is just not that excessive.

Prediction: Oklahoma 41, Florida State 31

Tennessee at Florida (O/U 51)

Unlike the last game, this one needs to be a game where both offenses thrive. In a blowout, I don't see the winning team scoring enough points to have the losing team pick up the difference.

Fortunately for offense lovers, I don't see that happening. These are two teams that put up a lot of points.

Tyler Bray is on target to break Peyton Manning's records at Tennessee. He's going against an unproven secondary. The Volunteers will score plenty of points.

And I don't think they'll win.

I also expect Florida's offense to move the ball up and down the field. Each team has more than enough firepower to blow past 51 points.

Prediction: Florida 38, Tennessee 27

Navy at South Carolina (O/U 58)

This actually might be the biggest lock of the weekend and possibly the season. When you consider what each team has scored in the opening two games, 58 is a number that the winner could easily reach on its own.

The favorites (South Carolina) haven't done a great job of stopping their opponents this year. Navy has scored 40 points in each of their two games.

There isn't a lot that suggests that this will be low scoring. Frankly, if 58 was the over/under for either the first of second half, I would consider taking the over.

But the fact that each team gets four quarters of offense to move the ball means that 58 will be done with relative ease.

Prediction: South Carolina 45, Navy 35
