Liverpool vs. Wolves: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Matt FaulconerJun 7, 2018

Liverpool has had an up-and-down start to their season, but they are certainly one of the most talented teams in England.

Wolverhampton got off to a fast start before dropping their first match of the season against Tottenham.

This match will without a doubt be the toughest match of the season thus far for the Wolves, and they will need a heroic performance to come away with a victory.

Biggest Storyline: Are the Wolves Legitimate Contenders?

Wolverhampton have played extremely well so far, but they are yet to be considered potential contenders for a Top Five spot in the English Premier League.

Being honest, it's tough to imagine the Wolves locking up a Top 10 spot, despite their strong start.

After just five games, they are 3-1-1, and will play at home against Queens Park before heading to Anfield.

Key Player to Watch for Liverpool: Luis Suarez

Suarez has been lights out since arriving at Anfield, and will look to continue his solid play against the Wolves.

He is one of the best players in the EPL in the attacking third, and will certainly be a threat to the Wolves backline.

He will challenge Wayne Hennessey every time he gets the chance, and could easily put together a multi-goal performance in this game.

Key Player to Watch for Wolverhampton: Steven Fletcher

Fletcher suffered a groin injury in the team's match with Tottenham and will likely be out of the team's upcoming match with Queens Park.

The hope is that he will be able to return for this match, as they need their No. 10 in the lineup to have a chance against Liverpool.

He has been extremely consistent for the Wolves since joining the squad, and would love to score his second goal of the season in this match.

Key Matchup: Wolves backline vs. Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez is clearly the biggest threat for the Reds up top, but don't forget about Andy Carroll. Carroll is a big target on crosses for the Reds, and can create with his feet as well.

He has missed the mark on a couple of chances this year, but is bound to have a big breakthrough game very soon.

This could be the game.

What They're Saying:

Liverpool knows they found a star in Luis Suarez, and Steven Garrard is not afraid to admit it. In a conversation with The Guardian, the Liverpool captain had this to say about Suarez:

"Hopefully he will go on here for a long time because he's certainly got a massive part to play at this club in the future—the history is there to be written."

Wolves defender Karl Henry also spoke to The Guardian about his defensive focus ahead of this weekend's match with Queens Park Rangers. Henry better hope he has this in mind when he meets Suarez and Carroll:

"I'm just so defensive, I only really come alive when the other team get the ball. Then, according to one of my mates, I'm like a greyhound chasing a hare. I'm definitely faster trying to get the ball back than I am when we have it. That's when I work the hardest."
