College Football Predictions Week 3: 3 Ranked Road Teams Feeling the Heat
So far the 2011 college football season has yet to disappoint, well, unless you're a Notre Dame fan.
Week 3 of the season is expected to be just as good if not better than the first two weeks.
There are 12 ranked teams that hit the road this weekend, and there will be a lot of pressure on these teams considering it will more than likely be their first true test of the season.
With several potential upsets looming this weekend, some teams are worried much more than others.
Here are three Top 25 teams feeling the heat for Week 3.
No. 15 Michigan State
The Spartans hit the road to play the depleted Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and even though they're 0-2, the Fighting Irish Irish will be ready for this Week 3 battle.
Notre Dame hasn't played as well as they should, but now they're back at home, and very hungry for a win. The Spartans can't look past the Fighting Irish or they will fall fast.
There's going to be a lot of offense in this game, and because both teams have solid quarterbacks you can expect an exciting finish. Despite a losing record, the Fighting Irish enter the game favored at -4.5.
Michigan State 33, Notre Dame 28
No. 17 Ohio State
Another Big Ten team feeling the heat this weekend, the Buckeyes travel down south to play the Miami Hurricanes. A week ago, the Buckeyes struggled against Toledo, allowing 22 points, which was the most they've given up to an in-state school since 1909.
This is a battle of programs under scrutiny by the NCAA, and both teams really need to win this game. The Buckeyes are without their top players, who played a huge role in their win over Miami in 2010.
Senior quarterback Joe Bauserman has his first true test of his career, and even though he knows the system really well it will be difficult to excel in such a hostile environment. The Hurricanes need this win more, but I just don't see them succeeding much against the Buckeyes tough defense.
Ohio State 27, Miami 17
No. 1 Oklahoma
The Sooners had no trouble beating the Florida State Seminoles at home last year, but now that they're playing in Tallahassee the pressure is sky high.
The defense will be without captain Travis Lewis, and having to stop dual threat quarterback E.J. Manuel will be much harder than what they faced a year ago.
Oklahoma has a better offense, but the Seminoles defense has improved greatly in the last year. The Sooners need to prove they belong as the consensus No. 1 team in the country, and with an impressive win on Saturday they'll do just that.
Oklahoma 42, Florida State 34
All three of these teams will be feeling the heat this weekend as they hit the road for a tough test. Will the ranked teams prevail, or fall flat on their face? I have these three winning, but with so many ranked teams on the road, a few of them are going to fall.
