Washington vs Nebraska: Over/Under, Spread, Predictions and TV Info

Gabe ZaldivarSep 17, 2011

The Washington Huskies meet familiar foes when they travel to Lincoln and take on the No. 11 Nebraska Cornhuskers.

For Washington, they have to be tickled to meet up with Nebraska, a team they humbled in the Holiday Bowl last year.

On Saturday, they have nothing to lose. The Huskies play the role of underdog to a Huskers squad that is still trying to prove themselves worthy of the top 10.

Nebraska has two wins in their pocket, and that is all head coach Bo Pelini would like you to concentrate on. In reality, the first two games were far too close for comfort.

Even last week's Fresno State blowout was razor thin at the start of the fourth. The Huskers are going to need a commanding win to quiet the criticism that they are not as good as previously thought.

Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln Nebraska

When: Saturday, Sept. 17 3:30 PM ET

Watch: ABC/ESPN/ESPN3

Spread: Nebraska -17, courtesy of Bodog.com

This will be an easy victory, but not a blowout. The Huskies are very familiar with Bo Pelini, and the Huskers have been a hard group to motivate early in this season. I would take Washington with the points.

Over/Under: 55, according to Bodog.com

Neither team will be stingy on defense, especially if Alonzo Dennard remains out. I can see the game resting around the 50 mark at the very least.

Key Injuries:

Nebraska: Alfonzo Dennard remains questionable going into Saturday. Pelini is playing news on this cornerback close to the vest.

Washington: Safety Nate Fellner is out, replaced in the lineup by Justin Glenn.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications: The Huskies can only hope to play the roll of spoiler in this affair. The real pressure lies with Nebraska who is knocking at the top-10 door.

A convincing win may be all it takes to sneak their way into the loftiest of collegiate categories. A loss would awaken voters who would proclaim the Huskers as not what we thought they were.

Keys to Washington Win: It is going to take some doing, but Steve Sarkisian will have his boys ready to play. I have been impressed with what Keith Price has given the Huskies as a touchdown machine at quarterback.

But the Huskers defense is a tougher nut than he has ever cracked. He will need to bring the best game of his life to get over on Saturday.

Keys to Nebraska Win: The Huskers are the better team. As long as they put constant pressure on the pocket, and play up to their level on defense, they should escape with an easy victory.

The only way they lose is to underestimate the Huskies, which they have done before.

Prediction: Nebraska 33, Washington 17
