Oklahoma State vs. Tulsa: 5 Players to Watch
As a team, Oklahoma State is on the verge of greatness. The Cowboys have a chance this season to do things that no other OSU team has done in the history of the school's football program. However, they have to get through Tulsa first.
Despite being a heavy underdog, Tulsa is a dangerous team, especially offensively. This matchup has the makings of a huge offensive shootout.
In fact [Spoiler Alert!], there isn't a single defensive player on this list.
Last season, Oklahoma State won 65-28, absolutely dominating Tulsa on both sides of the ball, with the Golden Hurricane scoring a large number of their points during junk time.
Will this year be the same?
Here are five guys you need to pay special attention to when you watch this game.
Joseph Randle
1 of 5People worried about the Cowboys running game at the beginning of this season, especially with the loss of All-American running back Kendall Hunter to graduation and the NFL.
Joseph Randle has assuaged all of those concerns.
The true sophomore, who played in spots last season as a freshman, hit the start of the season "running," gaining 250 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Randle is a big back at 6'1" and 191 pounds.
He's also versatile, already catching 11 balls for 108 yards in just two games.
Watch Randle rack up big yards against Tulsa's defense.
Bryan Burnham
2 of 5After the arrest and subsequent suspension of TU's leading receiver Damaris Johnson, Bryan Burnham emerged as the go-to guy for the TU offense.
The 6'2" Burnham has caught 10 passes for 162 yards and accounted for over half of QB G.J. Kinne's touchdown passes with three touchdowns.
Burnham has proven that he won't shy away from big games, making three catches for 68 yards and a touchdown against Oklahoma a few weeks ago.
Burnham will need to make many big plays if TU has any hope of winning this game.
G.J. Kinne
3 of 5G.J. Kinne might be the most talented quarterback that no one has heard of.
A transfer from Texas, Kinne has proven himself to be a big playmaker for the Golden Hurricane, accumulating over 4,000 yards of total offense last season.
This year, Kinne has already thrown for 512 yards and posted the best QB rating of his career.
Last year in Stillwater, Kinne often looked confused and overmatched. He'll have to do better at home against the Cowboys this year, especially since the entire TU offensive attack runs through him.
Brandon Weeden
4 of 5Weeden was unheard of going into last season. Fast-forward a year, and he's the reigning All-Big 12 QB and a dark horse Heisman contender.
He's already thrown for nearly 800 yards and is on pace to break his own school record for passing yards in a season (4,277).
At 6'4", Weeden is the typical, preferred size for a quarterback, making it difficult to bother him at the line of scrimmage, even for taller, bigger defensive linemen.
A former minor league pitcher in the Yankees system, Weeden possesses a huge arm and a maturity and calmness in the face of pressure well beyond his years.
His leadership is paramount for the Cowboys, and it will be on display Saturday night.
Justin Blackmon
5 of 5Justin Blackmon is the player you need to keep your eye on the most in this game.
The reigning Biletnikoff winner has 272 yards and two touchdowns so far this season and has achieved those numbers with relative ease.
Blackmon is a big, physical wideout who will bully and abuse opposing corners.
Last season, he was an absolute monster, amassing 1,782 receiving yards and 21 total touchdowns. He also toyed with defenders who were considered to be among college football's best, including Nebraska's Prince Amukamara, who was a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants.
TU, just like nearly every other team in the nation, has no defender who can even remotely keep up with Blackmon. He's the biggest reason this will probably be a blowout.
Watch him and be amazed.
