Michigan State vs. Notre Dame: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time

Richard LangfordJun 4, 2018

Notre Dame is quickly approaching panic mode—if they aren't already there. If they want to salvage their season, it needs to start with a victory over No. 15 Michigan State.

This will be no easy task. Michigan State is playing solid all-around football. They are not dominant in any one phase of the game, but they are good in all of them.

They bring a solid and balanced offensive attack that will try to use the run to set up the pass.

Betting Line: Notre Dame -3.5 to -5.5

I'm really shocked bettors haven't soured on Notre Dame yet. This is a flawed, mistake-prone team. And they are playing a technically sound and complete Michigan State team.

I'd find one of the places on vegasinsider.com listing Notre Dame as 5.5 favorites and lay a bet down.

What They're Saying

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio knows this is going to be a tough game. Here is foxsports.com on that very subject:

"

Dantonio, who is 3-1 against the Irish, knows Saturday will be a tough matchup despite Notre Dame's recent struggles.

"Notre Dame's a rivalry game for us, exciting for us," Dantonio said. "When you look at that, we're a 2-0 team, they're where they're at. You really have to throw out the records."

"

As far as Notre Dame is concerned, they know what they have to do to turn their season around: take care of the football. Foxsports.com talks about this:

"

The Irish committed five turnovers in each of their two defeats, negating 500-plus yards of offense in both games. They're coming off a tough 35-31 loss at Michigan last Saturday, allowing the winning touchdown pass with two seconds remaining after taking the lead with 30 seconds left.

"The one stat that really matters for me is the turnover takeaway, and there's a direct correlation to percentage of winning when you turn the ball over," coach Brian Kelly said. "There's no stat for me that tells the story more than that."

"

Michigan State Player To Watch: RB Edwin Baker

Don't let his 5'9" frame fool you. This 210-pound junior will run you over. His powerful style has earned him the nickname "Rock." And that style will be on full display in this game.

On the seasons, Baker has 24 carries for 141 yards.

Notre Dame Player To Watch: QB Tommy Rees

Sophomore Tommy Rees has been moving the Notre Dame offense since he took over quarterbacking duties after halftime in the first game. He has thrown for 611 yards in a game and a half.

However, he has to take better care of the football. He has four interceptions in that game and a half.

Key Matchup: Notre Dame vs. Themselves

I don't mean this as a slight to Michigan State. I think they are a fantastic team and pose serious matchup problems for Notre Dame. However, if Notre Dame is going to have a chance in this one, they have to stop beating themselves.

This starts with turnovers. Notre Dame cannot afford another multiple turnover effort. They are killing this team. They had five against Michigan. Three came from fumbles and two came from interceptions. This team needs to take care of the ball.

Prediction: Michigan State 27, Notre Dame 24
