Auburn vs. Clemson: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More
It's a battle of Tigers on Saturday as the No. 21 Auburn Tigers hit the road to play the Clemson Tigers.
The defending national champions are keeping with the theme from a year ago that a win is a win no matter what. Auburn has had two close calls already, and they're about to play their first game away from home, which can be pretty daunting on the inexperienced players.
Clemson suffered a Week 2 scare against Wofford, and they know have their sights set on knocking down Auburn. In 2010, this game came down to the wire with both teams making extraordinary plays that sent the game into overtime where Auburn won 27-24.
Both teams wish to remain undefeated, but Clemson is very hungry for revenge. With that, let's dig into the specifics of one of the first games to kick off during Week 3.
When: Saturday, Sept. 17 12:00 PM ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
Watch: ABC
Listen: WMSP 740 AM in Montgomery, WCCP 104.9 FM in Clemson
Betting Line
According to bodog.com, Clemson is favored by a field goal or -3, which isn't a huge surprise considering Auburn's recent troubles and the fact that it's a home game for Clemson. It was close last year, and it should be exactly the same this year.
Auburn Injury Report
Defensive end Joel Bonomolo, offensive lineman Aubrey Phillips and defensive end Justin Delaine all happen to be questionable for Saturday's game. No injury is serious as they're just banged up, but their status for the game is not yet known.
Clemson Injury Report
Defensive end Andre Branch separated his finger against Wofford, but is expected to play and safety Rashard Hall missed the Week 2 game with a knee injury, but the plan is to return him into the lineup.
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
Auburn continues to confuse the voters, but as long as they win they're going to stay in the Top 25. For Clemson, this is their first true test of the season and it would be a great chance to sneak into the Top 25. The voters haven't given them much of a look, but with a win on Saturday they definitely will.
What They're Saying
Clemson center Dalton Freeman told FOXSports after the game last week that they a lot of work to do.
""Our preparation has to get a lot better," Freeman said. We're disappointed with the way we started the game. If we come out like that next week against Auburn, it's not going to work."
"
Clemson scored the only points of the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference-maker in their eight-point win over Wofford. The Tigers shouldn't have been down going into the fourth quarter, and if they start slow again then Auburn will make them pay.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik told FOXSports after their Week 2 win over Mississippi State that trust is very key for his football team.
""Our players trust that we're going to give them a plan to win. They trust that they work hard enough and that they're prepared during the week, and it gives them the best chance to win on Saturday."
"
Auburn may have a plan, but often times it doesn't work as they continually adjust because of constant lead changes or they're digging themselves out of a hole. However, Chizik is dead right that his team works hard because if they didn't then they wouldn't have the ability to deliver a win late in the game.
Auburn Player To Watch
Barrett Trotter has done a solid job leading his team to narrow victories, but this will be his first road game as the starting quarterback. Keep an eye on him, how he adjusts to the atmosphere and how can handles any problems that come his way.
Clemson Player To Watch
Sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd has looked impressive in his first two games, but now he will go up against a very tough and very fast SEC defense. Boyd hasn't made a ton of mistakes, which is why it will be interesting to see how deals with Auburn's speed.
Key Matchup
Gene Chizik vs. Dabo Swinney in an epic rematch will be exciting to watch. They did a good job competing against each other last year, but Chizik was able to get the better of the two.
Now that Cam Newton is gone, Swinney has a much better shot, which is good for him because he needs a marquee win for Clemson fans to feel good about where their team is headed.
Key Storyline
Will Clemson get revenge or will Auburn find a way to win? Arguably the biggest scare for Auburn last year, Clemson isn't afraid of the Tigers from the SEC.
Auburn continues to find a way to win, even when it looks like they're depleted. Will their streak of luck continue or will Clemson knock them off?
Prediction
No matter who they're playing, Auburn is going to fight hard until the clock runs out, which is something you have to admire. Expect another close game for Auburn, but after counting them out against a team much better than Clemson, I can't do it this week.
The only thing that scares me is that this is Auburn's first road game, and they're going to have a difficult time early in the game, but in the end they just know how to win.
