Tennessee Injury Report
LT Dallas Thomas missed the final quarter against Cincinnati, but is expected to play.
DE Ben Martin is a Game Time Decision with an ankle injury.
Florida Injury Report
RB Jeff Demps is fine after sustaining an upper body injury.
TE Jordan Reed missed the second half against UAB, but should play.
DL Sharrif Floyd returns after a two-week suspension.
CB Jeremy Brown is still recovering from a knee injury. He's trying to make it back for the game against the Volunteers, but his status remains unknown.
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
Florida is ranked 16th in the AP Poll and 17th the USA Today Poll. A win here would be by far their best of the season and would likely move them into the top 15.
Tennessee comes in unranked, but also undefeated. Beating a ranked opponent on the road would at worst give them consideration for the top 25.
What They're Saying
Volunteers' Coach Derek Dooley is eager to put his team's recent struggles against Florida behind them. He said this to USA Today.
""I've said it all along, you can't be held hostage to the past ... The bulk of our team, this is the first time they're starting against Florida and guess what, they've got a lot of new guys, too. That stuff doesn't matter unless you make it matter. If you make it matter, it matters."
"
Florida Coach Will Muschamp knows that Tennessee is a big game because of the rivalry between the two schools, as well as the fact that it's the start of the SEC season. He had this to say to USA Today:
""You could tell the buzz in the locker room when the game was over. Our kids understand what is at stake, Tennessee coming to town, starting the SEC. We need to get started off well."
"
Tennessee Player to Watch
Any time you are breaking records held by Peyton Manning, you are worth watching. Quarterback Tyler Bray is on fire right now, and is only a sophomore. He'll need another strong game for his team to beat Florida at "The Swamp."
Florida Player to Watch
Safety Matt Elam will need to guide the Gators' secondary to a strong performance against Bray. Also, defensive end Ronald Powell will need to get pressure on Bray. If Bray has time, Tennessee will score a lot of points.
Key Matchup
Bray against the young secondary of Florida. This will be their first big test of the year. Shutting him down isn't realistic, but they will need to limit him.
Key Storyline
This is a rivalry that's been one of the SEC's best for a long time. But in recent years, the Gators have dominated.
Neither team has been seriously tested yet this year. So in both cases, it will be really interesting to see how they compete against a tough, conference opponent.
Prediction: I like Bray to put up plenty of yards with a few touchdowns, but I can't see Tennessee's defense doing well enough against QB John Brantley and RB Chris Rainey. It will be high scoring, but Florida should have the edge at home.
