Boise State vs. Toledo: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Matt FaulconerSep 14, 2011

The Boise State Broncos head on the road again to take on the Toledo Rockets in what could prove to be a sneaky matchup for the Broncos.

Boise State looked dominant in their first game of the season against the Georgia Bulldogs. With the victory, they brought themselves one step closer to the BCS Championship game.

However, lying in their path this week are the Toledo Rockets. The Rockets gave Ohio State a run for their money last week, so Kellen Moore and the Broncos better stay on their toes for this match.

Betting Line: Boise -20.5

The oddsmakers obviously gave Toledo no credit for their heroic performance against the Buckeyes last week, as they are huge underdogs at home for this game.

I can't say I disagree with the line though, anything lower and I would be all over Boise State. If you're expecting a Toledo upset, it won't happen.

Bet Boise State comfortably.

Toledo Injury Report:

Three key players on the defensive side of the ball could miss the game due to injury. CB Taikwon Paige is questionable for the game, while LB Robert Bell and LB Dan Molls will both miss the game.

Boise State Injury Report:

Third-string running back Malcolm Johnson will miss the entire season after suffering a knee injury before the season opener.

The status' of Cedric Febis, Geraldo Boldewijn, and Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe, who were deemed ineligible for the season opener against Georgia, are still up in the air.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications:

Obviously this game has huge BCS implications. Every game that the Broncos play has BCS implications, as this team could find themselves playing in the BCS Championship game if they win out for the rest of the season.

If Boise State wins they shouldn't expect to move much, but if they falter, they will slide down the polls and out of the BCS talk.

Key Storyline:

Will Toledo bounce back after their stunning loss to Ohio State? I'm not betting on that. However, if they can play well in this game, the rest of the country will come away extremely impressed by the effort put in by the Rockets.

What They're Saying:

After a gut-wrenching performance against Ohio State, Toledo looks to make a statement at home against the Broncos.

The team is looking to prove they have a short-term memory, and they believe they have what it takes to come out strong against the No. 4 team in the country.

"

"We all feel we should have won that game," running back Adonis Thomas says of the narrow loss in Columbus, Ohio. "The team is really looking forward to learning from the mistakes we made. It was just a few plays here and there that changed the direction of that game."

"There's nothing better than to be able to come back against a team like Boise State," he says. "We play a very hard, competitive schedule, but that's what you want: compete against the best, said Thomas according to Jack Carey of the USA Today.

"

On the other side of the Spectrum, the Broncos are looking to get back a trio of stars or who were ineligible for the season opener. Cedric Febis, Geraldo Boldewijn, and Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe were the three players held out, but all have been practicing with the team since then.

"

“I know we’re going to know more and we’re really hopeful that we will (have an answer),” he said. Head coach Chris Petersen said the issues involved came “very much out of left field.  Cedric has been here a long time and he finally gets an opportunity (to start) and the day before the biggest game of his life, or a couple days, it’s like, ‘This isn’t going to happen.’ So that’s been really, really hard. We’re just trying to be as supportive as we can to these guys and we’re just really hopeful that we get them back," said Petersen according to Chadd Cripe of the Idaho Statesman.

"

Boise State Player to Watch

All eyes are seemingly on Kellen Moore every time he steps out onto the field, but don't forget about running back Doug Martin.

Martin struggled in the first game of the season as he averaged just over two yards per carry in a 57 yard effort.

Petersen spoke with the Houston Chronicle about getting the lack of a run game last week,

"

"We didn't run the ball exactly like we wanted to," Petersen said of the effort two weeks ago in the Georgia Dome. "But we were really proud of how we ran it because we kept slamming it up in there, because if you don't do that and don't have some effectiveness you can't throw it the way we want to throw it."

"

Petersen understands that you have to stay committed to the run, no matter the situation. The Broncos will remain committed to Martin this week, so expect bigger numbers from the star running back against Toledo.

Toledo Player to Watch

Eric Page put on a show last week against the Buckeyes, and will be hoping to have continued success against the Broncos.

In his two seasons with the Rockets he has recorded over 1100 yards and 80 catches. He has 17 catches for 205 yards on the season thus far, and his team is going to need a clutch performance this week if they are going to have any chance.

Key Matchup

Kellen Moore is without a doubt the clock that keeps Boise State ticking. If Toledo is going to have any shot at taking down the Broncos, they are going to need the secondary to step up in a big way.

In Moore's first game at the helm this season, he went 28 for 34 with 261 yards and three touchdowns.

A pretty impressive line for a quarterback who found himself in SEC country against a ranked opponent.

I can only imagine that he will have an even better week this week, so the Rockets' secondary better be ready to play.

Prediction

Boise State 45
Toledo 17
