Arsenal Transfer Rumors: 4 Players They'll Go After in January
The transfer window may be closed until January, but that doesn't mean the rumor mill shuts down. Arsenal have seen many faces come and go recently, and in January they will hope to add high-caliber talent to better their roster.
With several months to go before the window opens once more, many faces will be linked to the Gunners, but here are four players who could be headed to North London when the weather turns colder.
Gary Cahill
1 of 4Regardless of whether or not your team needs a centre-back, Gary Cahill is a guy you want playing for your team.
The current Bolton Wanderers' defender already has a goal to his name this season through just four games played.
At the age of 25, Cahill has earned the right to be called one of the most promising defenders at his position in the English Premier League.
If Arsenal could grab Cahill for the right price, he could become a staple at his position for the Gunners for years to come and allow the team to feel comfortable pursuing other talent at other positions.
Alex
2 of 4Chelsea defender Alex was rumored to be heading over to Arsenal this past transfer window in a deal that ultimately dissolved.
Still, it's clear the Gunners want a defender, and their EPL rivals seemed willing to discuss the idea of parting ways with their Brazilian defensive back.
While Alex may not be as young as Cahill at 29 years of age, he has still proven to be a solid player whose role has been minimized by David Luiz's arrival last winter.
Chelsea have shown they're willing to move the defender, and Arsenal would be wise to make this deal happen.
Eden Hazard
3 of 4Not acquiring Eden Hazard brought many heartbreaks of the summer for Gunner fans, but that doesn't mean winter can't bring the Belgian star to London.
Lille's star playmaker was beyond close to donning Arsenal red this summer, and the English club may resurrect talks with the French team and obtain the youngster.
Hazard is just 20 years old and has already begun to draw comparisons to other prodigies such as Barcelona's Lionel Messi and is highly regarded by French legend Zinedine Zidane.
Over his past two seasons, Hazard has totaled 17 goals and 16 assists. He has two goals and one assist through two games in the 2011 season.
Arsenal should give the Belgian a blank check and tell Lille to add as many zeros as they want—that's how good this kid is.
Kaka
4 of 4In one of the most discussed rumors during this past window, Kaka was linked to Tottenham, former club Milan and Arsenal among others and will surely be a hot name on the market next time around.
The Brazilian star has consistently said all the right things regarding rumors of his departure from Real Madrid, but it's well documented his time since leaving AC Milan has been less than ideal.
Since joining the Spanish club, the decorated footballer has started just 32 games in La Liga. During his final two seasons in Serie A, Kaka started 58 games for Milan. This stat is skewed by injury of course, but playing time has been an issue for the attacking midfielder in recent years.
There's no question obtaining Kaka would instantly better the Arsenal attack and perhaps put the Gunners in contention once more, especially if they lock up one of the aforementioned defenders as well.
