Oregon Ducks Football: Previewing the Missouri State Game

Oregon evened their record to 1-1 after a 63-20 win over Nevada in Autzen.

The 12th ranked Ducks stay at home to take on FCS opponent, Missouri State (0-2), and are looking to really let the offense runn loose after shutting out last year's FCS opponent, Portland State, 69-0. The Ducks are also hoping to extend their win streak at Autzen Stadium to 18 games.

Who Is This Missouri State Team?

The Bears opened up against Arkansas, losing 51-7 and then lost 28-24 to Eastern Kentucky.

Lamichael James Will Return to Heisman Form

So far, Lamichael James has carried the ball 30 times for 121 yards, good for a 4.0 yards per carry average. James was able to put up better numbers in one game last season then he has in two games this year.

Granted he was shut down against LSU and only received 12 carries against Nevada, but still, it's Lamichael James, the running back who finished 3rd in Heisman voting last year.

James will break 200 yards rushing for sure against Missouri State, scoring multiple touchdowns.

Cliff Harris Won't Return to the Starting Role

Cliff Harris returned from his suspension against the Wolfpack but played sparingly as a back-up.

While Chip Kelly has made his point on discipline, playing a weak FCS team means that the Ducks don't need Harris to contribute as a starter and will continue to keep him as a back-up against Missouri State.

The Injured Stars Won't See Much Time...

...If any at all.

Kenjon Barner and Josh Huff both sat out the previous game with injuries sustained against LSU while linebacker Michael Clay left the game with a left ankle injury in the second half.

Similar to Harris playing a back-up role, Kelly will keep the wounded Ducks from receiving playing time. There simply isn't a need for any of these players to play. Alonso is back from suspension, there isn't a hole at linebacker and now freshman Anthony Wallace can get on the field.

With Barner and Huff, De'Anthony Thomas can fill both of their roles just fine.

What Uniform Will the Ducks Wear?

I think Ducks go white helmet, green jersey, and steel pants against Missouri State, toning things down a bit after the hideous combination worn against the Wolf Pack.

Prediction

Oregon will show no mercy against Missouri State and will easily dominate. The offense will do what the Ducks offense has always done, excluding the LSU game, while the defense plays lights-out football.

The Ducks will not fall prey to a FCS foe like their cross town rivals.
