College Football Picks Week 3: Why Ohio State Will Dominate Miami
The Ohio State Buckeyes face their stiffest test of the young college football season when they play the Miami Hurricanes in Week 3.
After their too close for comfort game against the Toledo Rockets in Week 2, the Buckeyes will look to come out strong in Florida this weekend.
Here are four ways that the Ohio State Buckeyes will dominate the Miami Hurricanes in Week 3.
Braxton Miller Will Have a Pryor-Esque Performance
1 of 4After not playing a single snap against the Toledo Rockets, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller will get into the game early against the Hurricanes. Once he gets behind center, he will show the huge talent that he has and play strong throughout the whole game.
His ability to break from the pocket and make plays will prove invaluable against the pass rush of Miami. The emergence of several wide receivers and the safety valve of TE Jake Stoneburner will let Miller feel comfortable putting the ball up for his pass-catchers to make plays on.
After a strong performance against Miami, Miller will be become the starter for the Buckeyes and lead them to a strong season.
Jake Stoneburner Will Continue His Stellar Season
2 of 4Jake Stoneburner has been one of the brightest spots on the Ohio State offense so far this season. Thus far, Stoneburner has caught a team high eight passes for 93 yards and four touchdowns. Those four touchdowns already double his total from last season.
On a team with a lot of talented but inexperienced wide receivers, Stoneburner has proven to be a reliable pass-catcher for his quarterbacks. He has the speed and hands of a wide receiver with the size and blocking ability of a true tight end.
That combination of skills makes Stoneburner a dangerous player. His one-handed grab against Toledo was one of the highlights of the Buckeyes' season so far. Stoneburner will continue his hot season against Miami and should grab a touchdown pass or two in the game.
The Defense Will Force Turnovers
3 of 4Miami Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris will make his season debut against the Buckeyes on Saturday. He had been suspended for the season opener and was named the starter after three practices during their bye week last week.
The fact that he will be making his first start of the season and may be rusty combined with his reputation of turning the ball over will lead to several opportunities for the Ohio State defense.
If the Buckeyes can capitalize on those turnovers, they should win the game comfortably. An interception being returned for a touchdown is also a real possibility.
Carlos Hyde Will Come Up Big
4 of 4Running back Carlos Hyde leads the Ohio State Buckeyes in every rushing category. He is quickly making himself known as the lead running back amongst the entire stable of backs that the Buckeyes have.
Hyde is not only a bruising runner between the tackles, but he also has the burst to break huge runs. That fact was shown when he broke a 36-yard touchdown run against the Toledo Rockets and really pulled away in the secondary.
Hyde will do more of the same against the Miami Hurricanes. He will wear down the Miami defensive line and have a strong overall rushing performance. Getting into the end zone will only be icing on the cake for Ohio State.
