Auburn Football Recruiting 2012: Commitments, Targets and Predictions

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Auburn is in the middle of another great recruiting run, and they have firmly entrenched themselves as a force on the recruiting trail. Oh, also, they still haven't lost a game in two years.

With one of the best 2012 recruiting classes right now, we're going to give a quick update and outlook on some of the Tigers' top remaining targets and factors in their current 2012 recruiting efforts.

War Eagle.

Key Commitment: Ricardo Louis, WR

1 of 5

I think I'm going to go out on a limb and say that, three to five years down the line from now, we're going to say that Ricardo Louis is the best player in this class.

He has played QB for his high school team, but it looks like Auburn will make the 6'2", 200-pound dynamic athlete a WR on The Plains. He's a future big-play threat with great play speed, size, quickness and a high ceiling.

He's a bit underrated right now die to his lack of a significant amount of film as a WR, but based on what many have seen, Louis has a chance to be outstanding.

Will It Be a Tigers vs. Crimson Tide Battle for Kwon Alexander?

Kwon Alexander has narrowed his list down to a final five of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU and Oregon.

The Alabama native is being pulled by different recruits to each of his finalists, but in-state pressure may make this an Iron Bowl fight for the nation's best LB prospect. However, Florida State has had a good amount of success in Alabama this year.

Nation's Top Recruit Visited the Plains

Auburn did get an unofficial visit from Dorial Green-Beckham and is in contention for him. DGB will release his top-five list in the coming weeks, and Auburn could be one of the schools to make the cut.

With Auburn having Kiehl Frazier from last year and Zeke Pike committed this year, they do boast two young elite QB prospects for Green-Beckham to grow with moving forward in the program.

Stay tuned for this one.

Elite Offensive Skill Position Class Being Put Together

4 of 5

Last year, Auburn signed an elite offensive line class and they are already seeing the impact of those recruits this season. From Reese Dismukes to Christian Westerman on down, the Tigers have a great future on their offensive front.

This year, the Tigers are going after quality skill position players.

They boast commitments from QB Zeke Pike, RB T.J. Yeldon, RB Jovon Robinson, WR Ricardo Louis, WR Jaquay Williams and TEs Ricky Parks and Darrion Hutcherson.

All of them are rated at least 4-stars.

Diggs Is Still Digging Auburn

5 of 5

Stefon Diggs just recently did a postgame interview with Scout.com and he did reveal that he really likes Auburn. He enjoyed his visit earlier this summer and will almost surely take an official trip to The Plains after the season.

Diggs says he will take all five of his visits and is considering schools like Florida, Miami and Maryland.

He also added that he feels he could impact at Auburn either as a freshman or sophomore.
