College Football Rankings 2011 Week 2: 3 Teams Who Are Better Than Their Ranking
Week 2 brought forth some interesting subplots to the ever-changing college football rankings. We are a few weeks before the release of the BCS. For now, we have these teams to prove that no poll is without its faults.
The current polls will see another overhaul by the time Tuesday rolls around. We already have some evidence to back up our claims that these programs deserve, and will eventually claim, loftier positions in the rankings.
Here are three teams that are under-appreciated where they currently sit. It is high time they get bumped up to where they belong.
1. Boise State
The Broncos are forever jinxed to be at least two places off from where they deserve to be. I agree that Boise State has its questions in size and stoutness on the field.
This has never been a team to win by stuffing it down your throat. Well, they passed their first SEC test by running the ball and stretching the field. It is time for them to get more respect, although we all know they won’t.
2. Florida State
Oh, boy. The Seminoles are a notch or two lower than I feel comfortable with. The questions that Alabama has at quarterback make me uneasy that the Seminoles should ride behind them.
The problem here is that they are destined for a loss by a true number one in their next game, Sept. 17 against Oklahoma.
3. TCU
Yes, the Horned Frogs had their chance at the top 15 and blew it by getting bested by Baylor. I submit to you that TCU was playing a very underrated Baylor squad.
Robert Griffin is a top-shelf quarterback that will have Baylor continuing to rise. That being said, TCU is at least better than Texas who, as of this writing, is struggling with BYU. I would also bet my savings on TCU getting over on South Florida head to head.
