Toledo vs. Ohio State: Final Score, Recap and Analysis of Buckeyes' Victory
The Toledo Rockets descended upon Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and they brought quite a scare with them.
Toledo was given little chance by pundits and experts heading into the week 2 battle. A suspension-riddles Buckeyes team were given a near heart attack as the game was much too close for their own good.
Here is a run down of the Buckeyes hard-fought victory.
Final score: #15 Ohio State 27, Toledo 22
Game recap: The game started as you would have thought, the Buckeyes overpowering Toledo on a touchdown drive to start the game.
1st QUARTER
Joe Bauserman threw a 26-yard pass to Jake Stoneburner for six with 11:45 remaining in the quarter. That is when Toledo showed they would not cower to the OSU reputation. Toledo 0, OSU 7
Toledo put up two unanswered scoring drives to end the first quarter. The first saw Eric Page pass to Hank Keighley for a stirring two-point conversion with 07:07 in the first. Toledo 8, OSU 7
Terrance Owens then finds Eric Page for a 66-yard pass in the quarters final score. Toledo 15, OSU 7
2nd QUARTER
Carlos Hyde continues to be the consistent offensive presence for the Buckeyes, notching a sensational 36-yard run for a touchdown. Toledo 15, OSU 14
With just 46 seconds in the half, Ohio State got back the full complement of momentum as Chris Fields takes a punt return 69-yards to the house. The game was seemingly in had at that point. Toledo 15, OSU 21
3rd QUARTER
Toledo proved a pesky and worthy opponent out of the half. They hit the Buckeyes' ego with a fine drive early, culminating in an Adonis Thomas 4-yard touchdown run just two minutes into the quarter.Toledo 22, OSU 21

4th QUARTER
Toledo took the ball with just minutes left in the game. Terrance Owens put together what could have been the dagger in OSU's season with a marvelous drive.
Toledo drove down to the Buckeyes' 17-yard line, but were unable to convert on 4th and 6. With 48 seconds left in the game, the Buckeyes took over possession and ran out the clock. Toledo 22, OSU 27
Player that emerged: It took a village to win this one for the Buckeyes. The defense stole the show in stopping a late Toledo drive. As for the rest of the game:
OHIO STATE
Chris Fields: His 69-yard punt return was vital to saving the Buckeyes season in week 2.
Carlos Hyde: Joe Bauserman did what he needed to do to drive the offense, but Hyde was the star, running for 76 yards and catching for 28. His two touchdowns were godsends to a team that were on their heels all day.
TOLEDO
Eric Page: Page owned the sure hands you need in a near upset effort. He caught 12 receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
Injury News: Ohio State receiver Corey Brown suffered an ankle injury and was on crutches later in the game.
What's Ahead For Each Squad:
Ohio State: The Buckeyes have a bit of a respite, if you can call it that. They will see another program battered by suspensions and possible sanctions in Miami. They will not see another ranked team until October 1st when they get #17 Michigan State at home.
