AC Milan vs. Lazio: 5 New Signings to Watch
The Serie A season belatedly gets underway tonight as champions AC Milan begin their defense at home to Lazio.
Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri won the Italian title in his first season at the club last time out—Milan's first since 2004.
Edoardo Reja's Lazio got off to a flying start and led the table in the early stages, but ultimately finished fifth.
Here are five new signings to watch at the San Siro this evening.
1. Alberto Aquilani
1 of 5Italian international midfielder Alberto Aquilani joined Milan on loan from Liverpool this summer.
Aquilani struggled to hold down a regular spot in Kenny Dalglish's team, but the hope is that his style of play will fit better at the San Siro.
2. Philippe Mexes
2 of 5France international Philippe Mexes joined Milan on a free transfer from Roma this summer.
The central defender undoubtedly strengthens their squad, but whether he'll be in the starting lineup tonight remains to be seen.
3. Miroslav Klose
3 of 5Miroslav has waited until the grand old age of 33 to try his luck in a league outside his native Germany.
Having joined Lazio on a free transfer this summer, all eyes will be on the World Cup specialist to see if he can cut it in Serie A.
4. Djibril Cisse
4 of 5Djibril Cisse arrived at Lazio from Greek side Panathinaikos this summer and got going with a brace on his debut in the Europa League.
The colorful Frenchman has pace to burn and could well be used in tandem with Klose in an all-new Lazio frontline.
5. Antonio Nocerino
5 of 5Antonio Nocerino joined Milan late on transfer deadline day from Palermo.
The 26-year-old midfielder impressed last season in Serie A, and judging by the five-year deal he was given at the San Siro, he is clearly a player Milan rate highly.
