Michigan Football Recruiting 2012: 5-Star Recruits The Wolverines Could Land
Michigan was once a big-time school on the recruiting trail, but dipped the past few years. New coach Brady Hoke has kept his word and has brought Big Blue back with a vengeance on the trail in 2012 recruiting.
Michigan has the No. 1 class per Scout.com and are among the top five or six on my board. Almost finished with recruiting for this year, the Wolverines are still in consideration of some top 5-star recruits.
Which ones could be coming to Ann Arbor?
5. Zach Banner, OT
1 of 5Banner is also looking at Michigan, as well as LSU and around eight other schools. He needs to narrow his list soon, and it is a bit cloudy if Michigan will get a visit.
But with the Wolverines having such a stellar class, Banner easily could trip to Ann Arbor to see what the hoopla is about and give the Wolverines a prime chance to land the 6'9", 305-pound OT.
4. Josh Garnett, OL
2 of 5Michigan could be looking at Garnett at three different positions: OT, OG or DT. Garnett has said he likes defense, but I think he knows his best long-term spot is at OG.
He has a nine or -10-school list that, according to Garnett, will be narrowed down in the coming weeks.
The 6'5", 275-pounder is a wanted man, and Michigan is a school that has impressed him.
3. Adolphus Washington, DE
3 of 5Washington is viewed as the top prospect in Ohio, as the 6'5", 255-pound DE is an athletic pass rusher who can also play a little OLB.
Washington is also a noted basketball prospect, and could opt to play hoops and sack quarterbacks in college.
Ohio State, Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama, Miami and Michigan State have all been mentioned. It could come down to a Buckeyes vs. Wolverines battle, but who knows.
2. Andrus Peat, OT
4 of 5Peat took a trip to Ann Arbor earlier this year and said that Michigan really impressed him. I think the Wolverines have a solid chance to get a trip from the 6'7", 300-pound OT prospect.
Yet Notre Dame and Nebraska also look very good for Peat, as the latter is home to his brother, whom signed with Big Red in 2011.
However, look for Michigan to be in the Andrus Peat sweepstakes 'til it concludes.
1. Jordan Diamond, OT
5 of 5Another OL prospect...I know. Some say Michigan, at different points of the process, has been Diamond's leader. He has ties to the program and even friends on the team.
At 6'6" and 290 pounds, Diamond is a very good OL prospect and has made trips to schools like Wisconsin, Arkansas, Michigan State and Ole Miss.
He seems to like every visit he takes, so it's hard to get a read on him at times. However, I think Michigan will get a visit from him and has a solid chance to land him.
