Liverpool FC: 7 Deals Kenny Dalglish Can Aim for in January

Jake RoddSep 4, 2011

Liverpool have had a near-perfect summer. A consistent run of results on the pitch has been accompanied by some business being taken care of. Most notably, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique have arrived, while Joe Cole, David Ngog and Christian Poulsen have been shown the door.

However, a team is not built in a summer transfer window. If Liverpool are to maintain a Champions League challenge, what other business needs to be taken care of?

Loan out Conor Coady

1 of 6

Conor Coady is one of, if not the brightest prospect at Liverpool FC at the moment. However, potential can only serve Coady for another couple of years. To develop into the player he can be, he needs to play. Now.

Judging by Raul Meireles' departure, the midfield looks set in stone or, at least, hard to break into. Therefore, a loan move would serve the midfielder well, and hopefully a Premier League side would take him.

Gerrard's return may force this move through, but hopefully Coady would take it upon his shoulders to improve.

Loan out Jack Robinson and John Flanagan

2 of 6

The two fullbacks are in a similar position to Conor Coady: full of talent but not quite ready yet. The two would benefit from loan moves, as both are third choice.

Both still have time on their side, and a loan move would provide them with hugely beneficial experience.

Sign Eden Hazard

3 of 6

According to reports, part of Joe Cole's loan move to Lille was balanced on this man. Apparently, Liverpool now have first say in terms of signing Eden Hazard, and if this is true, it would be a huge boost.

Capable of playing on either wing or centrally, Hazard is one of the most technically-gifted players around. He has just broken 20, so he could replace Dirk Kuyt and provide Liverpool with another quick, versatile player.

Sign Gary Cahill

4 of 6

Gary Cahill is proving himself again and again. A solid performance rounded off with a goal on international duty may have seen him into the permanent England picture—another thing to put on his CV.

Despite recently signing Sebastian Coates, Liverpool could use another proven powerhouse.

He could replace Jamie Carragher, and he would do a lot to help Liverpool in terms of their set-pieces, offensively and defensively.

Sell Maxi Rodriguez

5 of 6

Maxi Rodriguez shot to fame at Anfield at the climax of last season, netting consistently and scoring two hat-tricks. However, since then, Rodriguez has once again been pushed out of the picture, not starting a game this season—besides the League Cup tie against Exeter, where he scored.

However, Maxi is no spring chicken and should be shown the door while we can still get money for his services.

Sign a South American. Any South American.

This one is not based around the squad as much as it is based around Luis Suarez. Suarez will be key to Liverpool for the next couple of years, so long as we can keep him. Real Madrid will want him. Barcelona will want him. Manchester City will want him.

Our No. 7 is one of the best in the world and will attract big money from big clubs. He will be tempted, no two ways about it. Therefore, Liverpool must do everything they can to keep him.

Better contracts, new players, players that can converse in Spanish with him—whatever it takes.

If it was me, the next signing would be a Spanish speaker, which is another reason Sebastian Coates is a perfect signing.
