College Football Recruiting 2012: The Fastest Risers and Fallers In the Top 100
With the season starting, that obviously means there will be some dramatic fluctuation in many people's top 100 recruits lists. Not just mine, but just about everyone's.
Lists like these are as fluid as Niagara Falls.
For this read, I'm just going to give you a couple players that have risen and fallen the fastest on many various top 100 boards. From mine to others, here are the fastest risers and fallers of the top 100 recruits.
Faller: Erik Magnuson, OT
1 of 6Magnuson is a 6'6", 275-pound OT recruit from California. He has committed to Michigan and is one of the better players in the great 2012 Wolverine class.
However, according to Scout.com, he has fallen out of their top 100. Time will only tell if Magnuson can get back inside the top 100.
Riser: John Bullard, DE
2 of 6Although I do need to do a little more film study on Bullard, I like what I see so far. Plus, his high school coach holds the 6'4", 255-pounder in high regard.
Bullard is athletic but also very strong on his feet and should develop into a complete edge defender. Florida, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami and South Carolina are in the hunt.
Faller: Leonte Carroo, WR
3 of 6Carroo started off in the top 40 via Scout.com, then I noticed he was all the way in the 70s—and now he's outside the top 100.
I'm not sure what's the reason for the Rutgers commit's drop, but I'm sure Greg Schiano doesn't care. Carroo will be a solid WR in Piscataway.
Riser: Deontay Greenberry, WR
4 of 6Just as much as Carroo has fallen, Greenberry has risen. He's headed to Notre Dame and will be one of the replacements for Michael Floyd.
Scout.com loves Greenberry a bunch, as they now have him as their 51st ranked player. When the 2012 cycle started, he was not even inside the top 100.
Faller: Byron Marshall, RB
5 of 6Marshall was once well into the top 100 recruits list for many publications. But Scout has dropped him to 173rd overall.
I've heard there are some growing knocks on Marshall's willingness to run inside, and that's what is worrying some evaluators. He's a perimeter runner, and may not want to bang with the big boys in college.
Riser: Landon Collins, DS
6 of 6I have moved Collins up more and more on my board each time I've unveiled rankings. He's one of my favorite players, but when you go to "The Opening" and win MVP honors, yeah you need to be moved way up.
Alabama or LSU likely will land him, as Collins is a 6'0", 210-pound SS/OLB type that also has the speed and range to patrol the back end.
He's going to be dynamic defender in college.
