Liverpool FC: 5 Bold Player Predictions for the Month of September

Thomas AtzenhofferJun 7, 2018

The Reds have enjoyed one of the best opening months to a season in years. Liverpool sit joint third in the league with seven points and a plus four goal differential keeping them above Chelsea.

Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Martin Skrtel have all gotten off the mark in the League while Suarez, Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll all scored as the Reds advanced to the next round of the Carling Cup.

With the transfer window complete and Craig Bellamy and Sebastian Coates the latest newcomers to the club, it continues to be a bright future with the Merseysider's ready to continue their fine form in the coming matches of September and beyond.

The lack of European football could start to have a positive effect his month as all the other top six clubs are set to open their UEFA campaigns.

It looks to be a great second month of the season for the Reds and here is a list of five bold predictions of what we could see our Reds achieve in September.

Steven Gerrard Gets His First Start and Win Against Spurs

1 of 6

Steven Gerrard returns to training this first full week of September and he is set to make his return hopefully on September 18th.

He had this to say about the matter on the Reds official site LFC.tv:

"

"I won't be involved against Stoke next Saturday but my plan is to hopefully be involved in the game against Tottenham. It will be Kenny's decision when I come back in.

"I need to get some full training with the team under my belt and I'll have a better idea of my fitness condition when I play in a practice match which is being arranged.

"At the moment it's all good and I'm itching to get back. In fact it's worse than itching, my stomach is turning.

"It's been a tough five months for me since I had the surgery. It's been up and down emotionally and I've missed playing so much.

"I've had a good rest, I'm fired up and I'm raring to go again. I know I'm going to come back fitter, stronger and hungrier than ever."

"

The game against Tottenham Hotspur comes with them still in a rough place at the moment. With only one game before the Liverpool match they will most likely still not be settled back in after two tough defeats. They currently sit 20th in the table with no points and a negative seven goal differential.

Craig Bellamy Gets a Goal in One of the Three League Matches

2 of 6

Craig Bellamy has returned in what many could say a controversial move by Kenny Dalglish. However, I believe the Welshman's return could be a great signing for the manager.

Bellamy has said he could not refuse playing for Kenny, and that kind of player and manager loyalty breeds positive results:

"

"I've grown up with Kenny Dalglish, now to be signed by him is a massive honour," he said.

"This is an exciting time. When Kenny took over, watching as a fan last season I got the buzz as well and it was great to see Liverpool end the season well.

"For me, the players they've signed this summer, there has been a lot of British which takes me back to when I started watching Liverpool.

"I'm very happy. It's been a long couple of months, I had to be patient and believe something like this could happen."

"

On top of it all, Bellamy is a catalyst type of player than can influence good things around him on the pitch and is the kind of spark the Reds need off the bench or in their first eleven to play off the same flair as Luis Suarez.

Sebastian Coates Debuts Against Stoke

3 of 6

Daniel Agger and Jamie Carragher have been clicking on all cylinders so far this season with the Reds only giving up two goals in August.

New signing Sebastian Coates will be much appreciated for his height in the middle on set pieces, and his skill is also a great addition to the club.

Carragher believes he can learn as much from the young player as Coates can learn from him:

"

"It's not always about the older players helping the younger - it can work vice-versa. You're always learning from different people."

"

With a few weeks time to settle into the new squad Coates could get a possible start against Stoke City, with the Potters having just signed former Red Peter Crouch.

Both Carragher and Agger do not enjoy a 6'6" frame like the Copa America young player of the tournament, and he could see a run-out in the second half to make his debut just the same as his fellow countryman Luis Suarez did last season.

Suarez Puts Both Stoke and Tottenham to the Sword

4 of 6

Luis Suarez made his debut against Stoke City in front of the Kop last season and took only 16 minutes to score his debut goal for the Reds. Although this is a different Stoke team from last season, with a much more effective attack now thanks to the addition of Peter Crouch, Wilson Palacios and Cameron Jerome on deadline day.

Tony Pulis will be hoping to do a little better against the Reds than that last time he faced them, but Suarez is due a brace after missing out on close to five goals against Bolton, and the Stoke back line could be made to suffer.

Likewise Tottenham have struggled even more so than the Potters as they sit at the basement of the league. Suarez has as much or more class than Manchester City's four goal scoring striker Edin Dzeko who butchered Spurs last weekend, and the Uruguayan has looked hungry for goals since he returned from the Copa America.

Reds Win Three to Continue Their Blistering Pace in the Top Three

5 of 6

Liverpool have another month where all three games look winnable in the league and I am predicting them to achieve just that. Another three victories will see them on 16 points and could have them possibly even in second if things go their way in the chase behind both teams from Manchester.

Game Predictions:

Stoke 1 - 2 Liverpool

Spurs 1 - 3 Liverpool

Liverpool 3 - 0 Wolves

The Reds have all the talent and ability to pull off some great results this month, and I believe they will be able to achieve it all barring some freak injuries to the side.

Conclusion

6 of 6

This is another month that will see the Reds put all their cards on the table to continue to prove they are back and mean business.

Luis Suarez will continue to be the catalyst, but the arrival of Craig Bellamy brings some much needed additional creative width for the club and could lessen the burden on the Uruguayan to create so much.

Bellamy knows what Liverpool football is all about, and will most likely bear fruit from it this month and will help others in the process.
