Akron vs. Ohio State Game Guide: Depth Charts, Matchups and Injury Reports
It isn’t the most high-profile game on this Saturday, but Ohio State’s game against Akron could be one of the most telling.
News of the suspension of three more players broke yesterday and the Buckeyes will be even further behind in terms of who can play.
Akron had one of the worst offenses in college football last season and a just slightly better defense.
The game should go in Ohio State’s favor but here’s a breakdown of the game including depth charts, matchups and injury/suspension reports.

Ohio State Offense vs. Akron Defense
5 of 7The Akron defense will be really, really bad. The question is whether or not Ohio State can move the ball without many of its starters.
Center Mike Brewster is far and away the best player on the field but everyone is rather inexperienced. Be sure to watch the quarterback battle continue between Braxton Miller and Joe Bauserman.
I’m sure the announcers will be doing enough of that, though, so watch how well the new offensive linemen perform.
Akron Offense vs. Ohio State Defense
6 of 7The Akron offense will be really, really bad. The question, again, is whether or not Ohio State can stop them from moving the ball without many returning starters.
Defensive end Nathan Williams is one player to keep an eye on as an emerging star.
The position group to watch is the secondary, where only Orhian Johnson is the lone returning starter.
The Zips’ passing game last year was putrid so it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to shut them down but if they can’t, it could be a long year.
Injury Report
7 of 7Akron’s Matt Little is the only injured and he is listed as probable.
Linebacker Etienne Sabino is listed as probable for Ohio State.
The rest of the players who won’t be playing are suspended. They are Mike Adams, Daniel Herron, DeVier Posey, Solomon Thomas, Jordan Hall, Corey Brown and Travis Howard.
