Miami vs. Maryland Game Guide: Starting Lineups, Matchup Breakdown, Depth Chart
If there is one team that can't wait for the college football season to start, it's the Miami Hurricanes. After the whole Nevin Shapiro incident, the school is looking for anything to clear their head.
A game against the Maryland Terrapins on Monday night will be just what Miami needs as they meet on a national stage.
These two teams met last year when Miami escaped with a 26-20 victory as the Hurricanes scored a late touchdown to win the game. This game will be a lot more difficult.
Here is the breakdown for the Miami Hurricanes vs. Maryland Terrapins game.
Starting Lineup for Miami
1 of 4With Jacory Harris suspended for one game, sophomore quarterback Stephen Morris will be the starter. Morris played the last six games for the Hurricanes last season and threw for 1,240 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Cornerback JoJo Nicolas moves back to his natural position to replace strong safety Ray-Ray Armstrong who is suspended for five games.
Sophomore receiver Allen Hurns will replace Travis Benjamin who is suspended for one game.
Linebacker Sean Spence is suspended for one and will be replaced by Jordan Futch who will make his third career start. Defensive tackle Marcus Forston is also suspended for one game and will be replaced by Darius Smith.
The starting defensive ends will be Marcus Robinson and Andrew Smith who are replacing Olivier Vernon who is suspended for six games and Adewale Ojomo suspended for one.
Senior wide receiver Aldarius Johnson is suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. He has 62 receptions, 765 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns in three seasons.
Starting Lineup for Maryland
2 of 4Sophomore quarterback Danny O'Brien is named the starter after a solid freshman season throwing for 2,438 yards, 22 touchdowns and only eight interceptions.
Quintin McCree and Kevin Dorsey are the starting wide receivers, while senior wide receiver Ronnie Tyler is in the slot.
The defensive line features David Mackall, A.J. Francis and Joe Vellano. While the secondary consists of Eric Franklin, Matt Robinson, Cameron Chism and freshman Jeremiah Johnson.

3 of 4Miami

Maryland

OL Cody Blue and RB D.J. Adams will miss the game with a suspension for a violation of team rules.
Prediction
4 of 4Which coach will win their first game with their new respective school?
The Hurricanes are going to be without several players, including quarterback Jacory Harris. That means sophomore Stephen Morris will get the nod.
Maryland is under a new coaching staff, led by head coach Randy Edsall. Quarterback Danny O'Brien looks like he could develop into a solid player, and Davin Meggett looks to fill the role nicely while D.J. Adams is gone. Maryland is solid on defense as well, having finished 2010 ninth against the pass and 21st against the run.
Although Miami has a ton of players missing there is still talent on this team and new head coach Al Golden should have his team focused on the task at hand.
Prediction
Despite Miami missing several of its key players, I'm still sticking with the Hurricanes. It's kind of fitting that this game is on a Monday night with the entire country watching. It's really Miami against the world, and I would not bet against the players in this situation.
Hurricanes win 34-25.
