EPL Transfer News: 4 Rumoured Transfers That Didn't Happen
We had an exciting transfer window, and there were plenty of good deals. However, there were a number of deals that were expected, but in the end they didn't go through.
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens to these players, and if they will be on the move during the January transfer window. It will also be interesting to see if the club's will regret not pushing the deals through, or if the prospective selling club will regret turning bids down.
So enjoy the slideshow and leave a comment if you like.
Gary Cahill
1 of 4Gary Cahill has been linked with a move away from Bolton all summer. However, the player remains at Bolton despite reported interest from North London rivals, Tottenham and Arsenal.
Cahill has proved himself to be one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, and there is little surprise that he is interesting other clubs. The player started the season on fire with a stunning goal against QPR, has recently broken into England setup and will surely be in-demand again in January.
Arsenal have been linked with the player throughout most of the summer, and it is believed that bids were put in but were considered below-par by Bolton. It appears Tottenham made attempts to sign the player on transfer deadline day, but was Harry Redknapp backed to get his man?
Cahill has progressed really well, and a move away from Bolton probably isn't too far away. For now, the player should just focus on playing his best for England and Bolton.
Luka Modric
2 of 4Luka Modric has proved himself to be one of the best creative attacking midfield players in the Premier League. Chelsea have been trying to sign the player all summer, at 25 he's an established Premier League performer and international player, so it is not hard to see why.
Bids from Chelsea arrived before Andre Villas-Boas was appointed, and it is rumoured that Chelsea bid £40million for the player on transfer deadline day. However, Tottenham decided that they must hold onto their star midfielder.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham will regret not cashing in on the player while they had the chance. Modric has recently shown signs that he is unhappy about not being able to move on, and it will be interesting to see if he will continue to give his best for the club between now and January.
Wesley Sneijder
3 of 4Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a move to the Premier League throughout most of the summer. Manchester City were said to be interested, but the more likely destination was a move to Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson is on the lookout for a replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired last season. However, Ferguson would have been impressed with the form of Tom Cleverly in the early part of this season.
Nevertheless, Sneijder has real quality and experience from playing for some the world's biggest clubs and being a regular in the Dutch national side. With that in mind, Ferguson may revisit this deal in the January transfer window.
Kaka
4 of 4It wasn't so long ago that Kaka was considered one of the best players in the world, but it appears he isn't currently in Jose Mourinho's plans at Real Madrid.
So a move to the Premier League looked a likely option. But at 29, he may not be considered a wise investment unless he was available at a cut-down price.
Arsenal tried to secure the services of the player on loan, but that bid failed. There was also reported interest from Tottenham on transfer deadline day. Kaka offers experience of playing at the highest level at domestic, European and international level.
If the Brazillian remains on the fringes of things at Real Madrid, this may be a transfer that can be re-visited by the North London rivals in the January transfer window.
