Manchester United Transfer News: Don't Count out Sneijder Move in Winter Window

Sir Alex Ferguson will tell you that all is fine on the home front. It is hard to argue with the man Manchester United pays as well as they have.

But midseason doldrums will force him to reconsider the delight that is Wesley Sneijder.

The deadline came and went. Millions of Manchester United fans watch their Twitter feeds and televisions for updates concerning the Red Devils. We all knew that Wesley Sneijder would not be a last-minute deal, but it was fun to hold out hope.

I am here to tell you to hold out that hope. 

The next window is only a few months away. A lot can and most definitely will happen in that time. Inter Milan will battle in the group stage of the Champions League starting in September. 

They could very easily find themselves in a Champions League disaster by the time January rolls around. Really, the only reason to keep Wesley Sneijder around is to maintain the club's depth in the midfield.

If a huge offer comes in January with no more CL games to play, Inter will have to bite. It would be time to refill the coffers ahead of the summer window. 

For Manchester United, they are putting a great deal of pride, as well as pressure, on Tom Cleverly. The emergence of him and other United players have negated the search for the next Paul Scholes.

The middle of the pitch remains the most likely area to be targeted by other teams. For now, the Red Devils are looking pristine. Any amount of stagnation in the middle will force Ferguson to take a stab at the Inter Milan target he had in his sights for most of the summer. 

It was abundantly clear that Sneijder would love to run with the Red Devils. The winter transfer period may be the time to solidify the EPL title with his signing. That would open up other players to concentrate on the real prize of the Champions League crown.
