College Football 2011 Is Underway: Murray State at Louisville
The first college football game is underway. Murray State is in Louisville with hopes of an upset.
However, with a halftime lead of 21-3, the UofL goes into the locker room with more hope.
Here is a look at what we saw in the first half that will effect the rest of the game.
Here are five reasons that either team can still win.
From Louisville, Kentucky, it’s the Murray State Racers and the Louisville Cardinals.
Murray State Running Game
1 of 6The Racers show quite a bit of stamina in running back Mike Harris, as well as quarterback Casey Brockman.
Brockman shows great ability when scrambling.
Murray State Passing Woes
2 of 6Although the Racers were somewhat impressive on the ground, Brockman was 1 of 10 passing in the first quarter.
His first three passes were incomplete, leading to a punt.
Louisville Showing Less Conservative Play
3 of 6Cardinals head coach Charlie Strong pulls out a surprising play on fourth down.
Punter Chris Philpott takes his first snap in the first quarter and runs it for a 40 yard gain—a type of play that was expected more out of Murray State.
Louisville Fans: Few and Far Between
4 of 6Watching the game on the big screen, I noticed that the Louisville fans didn’t care too much about the game.
I saw several empty seats.
C’mon UofL fans.
It’s the opening game.
Support the team.
Louisville Defense Looking Tired Already
5 of 6By the end of the half, the Cardinal Defense seemed to have thought they had the game in the bag.
Murray State drove to score a field goal to end the second quarter.
Anything Can Still Happen
6 of 6With a full half of football remaining, the final score could be a lot closer than it looks now.
It all depends on which team continues to do the same thing and which team changes things up in the final half.
Make sure and keep an eye on Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium for the next 30 minutes of football.
