Kwon Alexander Update: Nation's Top Linebacker Down to 5, Who Has the Edge?
Kwon Alexander recently revealed he has trimmed his list down to a final five. His list was just at 10, and now we're in the final five for the nation's top LB prospect.
Who has the edge? Are there any teams that could jump back into the race? Well we'll answer all of that inside, so come and check it out!
Let's talk some Kwon Alexander recruiting!
Schools Eliminated
1 of 7Alexander told Scout.com that he is indeed down to a final five. He says he has trimmed his list, thus eliminating Miami, Florida, Texas, Clemson and USC.
Oklahoma and Ole Miss were also once in consideration.
Miami was held in high regard once, but Alexander said "but they got in trouble," alluding to the Nevin Shapiro scandal.
Finalist No. 1: Alabama
2 of 7Alexander is an Alabama native and has visited Tuscaloosa several times this spring and summer.
He also says that Reggie Ragland, the 5-star LB and 'Bama commit is trying very, very hard to get Alexander to join him in Tuscaloosa.
With the 6'2", 210-pounder being an elite defender, I'm sure Nick Saban would find a way to exploit Alexander's strengths even though they might not fit perfectly in his scheme.
Finalist No. 2: Auburn
3 of 7Auburn is another school that many link Alexander to. He being an Alabama native comes into play here again obviously.
Plus, with the Tigers being more of a traditional 4-3 team, I think Alexander could fit their scheme a bit better than the Tide's.
Also, Cassanova McKinzy is in Alexander's ear about The Plains.
Finalist No. 3: Florida State
4 of 7The Seminoles have struck gold several times this recruiting cycle in Alabama.
Chris Casher, Jameis Winston, Alphonse Taylor and Justin Shanks are all Alabama players committed to FSU for their 2012 class.
So why not add another Alabama player? Especially one like Alexander.
Alexander says Jameis Winston, the top QB prospect in the country, is also talking with him a lot about coming to Tallahassee with him.
Finalists No. 4 and No. 5: LSU and Oregon
5 of 7Alexander has his eyes on both LSU and Oregon. He says he's never been to LSU, but wants to take a visit to Baton Rouge and check out the Tigers soon.
Oregon has made a good impression on him via Chip Kelly. He says he also would like to take a trip to Eugene and check out what the Ducks are all about.
Can Anybody Get Back into the Race?
6 of 7Maybe.
Alexander says that there is a chance USC could get back into the hunt. He likes the tradition and talent on the roster.
He says a couple more schools could get back into the race but "that about it" according to Scout.com.
Stay tuned.
So Does Anybody Have the Edge?
7 of 7No, not really. Although I think this could come down to an Alabama vs. Auburn race, I'm still not sure.
The only thing to do is to watch where Alexander visits and see if anyone makes a significant impression on him before NSD.
His recruitment really could go in several different directions.
