Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners To Break Club Transfer Record by Signing M'Vila

Adrian AgiusJun 4, 2018

Arsene Wenger is about to put to rest all the criticism in the media about Arsenal's ability to spend money by lodging a £25 million bid for M'Vila of Rennes. The French International would prove to be a key addition for Arsenal who have lost both their creative sparks in Nasri and Fabregas.

According to Goal.com, at just 21 years old M'Vila is attracting a great deal of attention from the Gunners. The London club has already sent officials to France to negotiate a deal and all reports suggest that they are close to securing his services. The only issue being at the moment, the final transfer fee to be payed to Rennes—the French club wants £30 million for the service of their player.

£30 million or even £25 million would prove to shatter Arsenal's previous record for spending on a single player in the history of the club, the last biggest signing being that of recent departure Samir Nasri (£15.8 million). So it begs the question...is M'Vila really worth it? For somebody so young £25 million will prove to be a massive investment.

Arsenal has been well and truly active in the transfer window in the last 24 hours where they have:

"

"completed the signing of South Korea captain Park Chu-Young for an initial £3m (€3.4m) fee and reached agreements to buy defensive duo Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos for a combined £14.1m (€16m)."

"

The signings still don't yet balance the money brought in by the sales of Clichy, Nasri and Fabregas but could prove to be the start of a mass recruit by Wenger in the final days of the transfer window.

After securing just a single point from their opening three English Premier League encounters, Arsenal will need all the help they can get. The latest string of Arsenal signings will go a long way to ensuring that Arsenal can at least remain competitive enough to challenge for a spot in Europe, or at the very least, finish in the top half of the table.

What do you think of the new signings?
