Oregon Football: Ducks vs. Missouri State Week 3 Breakdown
After games against LSU and Nevada, Oregon gets a bit of a break and welcomes Missouri State to Autzen Stadium in Week 3.
The Ducks clearly outmatch Missouri State and will win with ease but will still have a lot to accomplish in this game.
While the main objective will be to earn a victory and stay healthy, here is a look at what each unit will be looking to accomplish in the game against Missouri State.
Offense
1 of 5After a couple of tough games, Oregon's offense should look to be efficient and get the first string players out of the game by the half.
This game should be an opportunity for Oregon to see what their young receivers can do and give the offensive line some more time to gel together.
If Oregon can get up early, they can really take a look at what the future of this unit has.
Defense
2 of 5Much like the offense, the defense will have an opportunity to see what some of the newcomers can accomplish.
The one difference between the offense and defense will be that the defensive starters could use the extra reps and experience in their new starting roles.
Special Teams
3 of 5Even without Cliff Harris returning kicks, because I truly believe Harris will end up being suspended through this game, the Ducks still have a huge advantage with special teams.
Last year, Oregon did not allow a kickoff or punt return for a touchdown but certainly had their share of both.
With both their starting kicker and punter back and Kenjon Barner deep to return kicks, the Ducks are in good hands.
Intangibles
4 of 5Some of the intangibles that Oregon brings to this game is their speed and possible new formations.
While Missouri State will be able to see Oregon on film, the pace and speed at which they play is not something that can be appreciated until it is experienced. Missouri State will struggle to keep up from the opening kick.
Also, Oregon will be employing some new formations this season that were created to get more of their talented players on the field at once. The idea of more talent on the field is a scary thing for any opponent.
Prediction
5 of 5Unfortunately for Missouri State, they are traveling to Autzen Stadium as nothing more then a glorified scrimmage for the Ducks.
Oregon has way too much depth, speed and talent for this too be close. The Ducks will use the majority of their bench the way they did against Portland State last year and win big.
