Chelsea Play Mourinho At His Own Game

TheChelseaBlog.orgNov 14, 2008
Well, well, it looks as if Chelsea could finally be playing Jose Mourinhoat his own game. The ex-Chelsea manager had his sights set on Brazilian international Thiago Silva and had even got as far as sorting out a pre-contract agreement with the player, which he was on the verge of signing…..until he heard Chelsea were interested as well apparently.
Silva is apparently regarded as the best centre back in the Brazilian league although is versatile enough to play at right-back and in a holding midfield role.
The 24 year old Brazil defender is out of contract at his current club Fluminense at the end of December and has admitted he doesn’t plan on signing a new deal.

Silva has said: “There are some things happening.

"That is true and I do not deny this to anyone. We have to be open with the fans. There is no point saying that I’m going to stay for next year if I am thinking of leaving.

"I say very clearly that I’m thinking of leaving. Everyone knows that. When I walk in the streets, the fans says: 'Go with God, it makes your life.  You deserve it, you are a good man'.

"Hearing that makes me more relaxed.”

A little dramatic, but anyway, it looks like he’s set to leave and with Chelsea sort of hinting they won’t be exactly splashing the cash in the new year, the prospect of a free-agent must be pretty appealing.
