Fantasy Football 2011: 25 Sleepers Who Shouldn't Make It Past Round 4, but Will
Every year there are a few players that slip out of the first couple of rounds that should not, and there are always a few guys that come out of nowhere to have a huge year (think Miles Austin in 2009). Here is a list of those guys.
Getting these guys late will be key to winning your fantasy football league in 2011.
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo
1 of 25Tony Romo is coming off of an injury in 2010 but that shouldn't scare you away from him. He is in a pass first and second offense, and has two dangerous receivers in Miles Austin and Dez Bryant.
Tennessee Titans TE Jared Cook
2 of 25Tennessee traded up in the draft two years ago to acquire Jared Cook in the third round. He has the physical skills to create mismatches outside, and the new Titans' coaching staff has said they plan on featuring him this year.
San Diego Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd
3 of 25Malcolm Floyd had 717 yards in 11 games last season. He will easily surpass 1,000 yards if he can stay healthy for the full tilt in 2011.
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin
4 of 25People have been scared away from Jeremy Maclin because of his health scare. He is expected to be ready to go in week one and should build on the solid numbers he put up last season.
Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams
5 of 25DeAngelo Williams was banged up last season, but he is in camp, healthy, and ready to prove that he deserves the big contract he signed this offseason.
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno
6 of 25Knowshon Moreno is going to be the No. 1 running back in John Fox's run heavy offense. He should get plenty of opportunities to run the ball and is a good receiver out of the backfield.
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston
7 of 25People continue to ignore Marques Colston, and he continues to put up solid numbers year after year. Last year he racked up 1,023 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt
8 of 25Kenny Britt could be facing a 2-3 game suspension from the league, but the man is a stud when he is on the field. You need look no further than his 225 yard and 3 touchdown game last year. He missed the first quarter of that game because of a fight in a nightclub.
Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub
9 of 25Matt Schaub is in a pass happy offense that features the best receiver in the game, Andre Johnson. Schaub will give you a point total close to the top guys while not costing you a top pick.
New York Giant WR Mario Manningham
10 of 25Mario Manningham came on strong at the end of the year last year, and he will see increased targets with the departure of Steve Smith. He will also benefit from having Hakeem Nicks lineup on the other side for defenses to focus on.
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones
11 of 25Julio Jones has done nothing but impress in his short time with the Falcons. Most rookie receivers struggle, but Julio is going to be an exception to that rule.
Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells
12 of 25Beanie Wells has been underwhelming in his two years in the league, but he is going to be the feature guy in an Arizona offense that should be better than it was last year. They drafted rookie Ryan Williams, but he was lost for the season to an injury last week.
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch
13 of 25Marshawn Lynch will benefit from better weapons in the Seattle line-up this year with the addition of Sydney Rice and Zach Miller. Tarvaris Jackson is a question mark, but will need to lean heavily on Lynch to be successful.
Indianapolis Colts WR Austin Collie
14 of 25Austin Collie was one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets before his season was cut short with a concussion. He is the perfect receiver to find the underneath holes in the zone created by the deep threat of Reggie Wayne.
New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes
15 of 25Holmes caught 52 passes for 746 yards in just 12 games last season. He has the speed to take the ball to the house every time he touches it.
Denver Broncos WR Brandon Lloyd
16 of 25Brandon Lloyd emerged as a No. 1 receiver in fantasy football last year. People are scared to take him early this year because he has only had the one good year, and because the Broncos offense will be more run heavy in 2011, but he will still provide good value later in the draft.
Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones
17 of 25Felix Jones will see more touches with the departure of Marion Barber and is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, so he won't be hurt as much as you might think by the pass happy Cowboys.
Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin
18 of 25Percy Harvin is the guy in Minnesota with the departure of Sydney Rice. He has the ability to stretch the field and take a screen the distance. He will be the favorite target of Donovan McNabb.
Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice
19 of 25Sidney Rice is already familiar with Tarvaris Jackson, and he is poised to have a big season after missing most of 2011 with a hip injury.
Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson
20 of 25Cedric Benson is going to be the feature back in an offense that is going to have to run the ball a lot in order to be successful.
Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant
21 of 25Ryan Grant will get the bulk of the carries for the most high-powered offense in the NFL. He should put up some pretty big numbers.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman
22 of 25Josh Freeman threw 25 touchdown passes last season and in most drafts won't get chosen until after the 5th round. Freeman is only in his third season and hasn't reached his ceiling yet.
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant
23 of 25Dez Bryant was good in his rookie season that was shortened by an injury. Players make the biggest jump from year one to year two, so expect big things from Bryant this season.
Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush
24 of 25The Dolphins acquired Reggie Bush to be their feature back. He has shown that he struggles in that role, but can be valuable in fantasy leagues, especially leagues that give you a point per reception.
Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan
25 of 25Matt Ryan has weapons all over the field. He has one of the best receivers in the game in Roddy White. He has a rookie stud in Julio Jones. He has a great running back in Michael Turner and a solid check-down option in Tony Gonzalez. That is the recipe for a big season.
