Miami Hurricanes Football Scandal: Bodog Skips ACC Betting Odds

Randy ChambersJun 7, 2018

As most of you are getting ready for the college football season, so too are the betting websites. Football season is the biggest time of year for sports bettors, and it starts as soon as college football does.

As lines are being posted for single games, future bets, which allow you to predict who wins certain awards and conferences, are also being released.

Most of them are already released to the public, but on Bodog.com the ACC is on hold.

The Miami Hurricanes are currently under investigation with the NCAA due to the scandal I'm sure you've heard about—the one in which Nevin Shapiro ratted out the University on how many NCAA rules they broke and all of the things he provided players and coaches.

The investigation encompasses 12 current players, including quarterback Jacory Harris.

There is a good chance that some—if not all—of these players will be suspended for a lengthy period of time. That would change the odds of the Hurricanes winning the ACC drastically.

So, until the NCAA decides what they are going to do, Bodog refuses to release the odds for that particular conference.

But who had Miami winning the ACC to begin with?

I mean, there's always a chance for everything—there's a chance Kim Kardashian and Chris Humphries stay married forever, but we know it won't happen.

But seriously, what would the odds be that Miami wins the ACC if all of their starters played?

Right off the bat, Florida State should be the overwhelming favorite. The team is stacked on both sides of the ball and will make a possible run at the national championship.

Virginia Tech is more talented than this Miami team, returning 12 starters from a team that finished 11-3 last year.

With coach Randy Edsall taking over, Maryland is on the rise, and you can't count out North Carolina.

Those last two teams probably won't win it, but they have a better chance than the Miami Hurricanes did.

Miami has a new head coach in Al Golden who plans to instill discipline in a team that turned the ball over 36 times a season ago.

And just look at that schedule: Week 2 against Ohio State, games at Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Florida State, and a game against Georgia Tech.

That's five potential losses, which is nowhere close to the record they'd need to even sniff the ACC championship game.

Bodog can continue to hold those odds for the ACC championship, but we all know only a few teams have a real shot at winning it.

And Miami isn't one of them.
